I'm having the exact same issue. I have 7 plus. Apple replaced both AirPods and case last week however the issue still persists. Please keep us updated. They're great for listening to music but it's a total crapshoot if they're going to work for a call.

I have the 7 plus and original Apple Watch. I don't experience this. Had calls for 3 hours and didn't disconnect.

Only disconnects when I get into my car and my phone connects to the car Bluetooth.

At times it might take a while to switch if I was connected to a different device. In some rare cases I had to reboot.

I have had this problem too, and participate in the other thread. I've been working with apple advanced support for the week trying to troubleshoot and get to the bottom of the issue. Loading profiles and sending them log files.

One of the elements of the testing is to capture a log snapshot when it happens.. on my phone 6s (yes 6s) this is done by pressing the sleep/wake button and the two volume rockers simultaneously (there is a haptic feedback when doing this) and this writes a time stamp or log flag to the ever growing log file that I send over.

that said, what I HAVE found out while doing this process is that by DOING this funky action, it RECONNECTS the airpods nearly EVERY TIME.

so give that a shot next time and see if it works. This shouldn't be required, but till we get to v1.0.1 at least for FW, some of us may just have to live with the issue.

I'm hoping that is isn't something to do with the BT radio on the 6s, or with the actual pair of airpods that I have (having given away five pair as xmas gifts it would be pretty ironic if MY pair were the bad pair)

We'll solve it soon enough though i believe. The folks I have been working with are very professional.
[doublepost=1506317436][/doublepost]just read your post...

I just bought a pair of AirPods, and I get cutting out on both an i6s, and a iPad Pro, which I only bought just last year...

Any ideas why?...

regards, Rohan

And the garbled voice of the devil is still an issue... When picking up my AW3 at the Apple store on Friday they had AirPods in stock so on a whim I grabbed a pair to see if things worked any better than my other devices, unfortunately not the case. The frustrating thing is that the BT garbled voice has been an issue since '15 (if not even earlier). While the garbled voice typically occurs when call transitioning from wifi to tower, the AirPods first occurrence was on a tower only call and as usual switching call audio to phone and back to pod during call solved the problem.

I think the stability/reliability of AirPods has definitely improved. I can't remember the last time I had a dropped call and I'm using them much more than ever before. I've not had the garbled voice, but once a month or so I'll get a call where the audio is sloooooooooooooooowed down in a comedy fashion and I have to redial.

Probably referring to the same thing as voice of the devil. Next time it happens, don't redial, all you have to do is switch you call from AirPod to phone or speaker and then back to AirPod and it is resolved.

So good to see this thread! I have the same issue and its driving me crazy. 6S and original Apple Watch. I wouldn't say all calls drop, but enough so that Ive had to stop using them for work calls. Listening to music is fine and I love them for that.

I took them to the Apple Store today. They did a "Reset all settings" and rebooked me to come back in a week to let them know if it was still happening. Annoying part was I got home, made a call and they disconnected instantly. Really annoying, I hope a fix is issued soon.

Happening with me with an iPhone X and Apple Watch series 3. Apple just replaced my iPhone X but I think the issue is with the phone and the watch trying to connect together
