Mine are 2 years old as well and I get about 2 hours of music and almost 90 minutes of talk time on a phone call. To blanket statement that all AirPods only have a 2 year life is ridiculous. I used mine almost daily for 2 years. Even if they wee about to die , that’s a lot of use for a couple years.

Who said such a thing?

In Sweden we are offered battery service for 75$ per part, so 225$ for a battery replacement or 180$ for new ones, hard choice there :)

Great thread.

You used a product for 2 years, that has a battery; that doesn't last forever and your mad at Apple because they wont replace for free?

My sons PS4 controller died after 18 months or so. Guess what? Went and purchased a new one and didn't complain about Sonys lack of customer service.

What exactly has changed since the 1980s that would make this MORE acceptable? Apple had $237,100,000,000 in cash on hand as of Nov. 2018. What's the excuse for treating customers like suckers?
Just curious. At what point should Apple continue to replace something for free after the warranty expired? 2 years? 3 years? 8 years? 10 months? 10 years?

Maybe your expectations are out of line?

My Airpods died after a few minutes as well. I made a reset on them on now they seems to work much longer.
To reset, removing pairing from phone, open airpod case, hold reset button for 15 seconds until LED changes colour.
Pair them again the normal way.

I could say I told you so. Or in this case Apple . Battery have a life span. If you’re worried about longevity buy wired headphones

Umm, Jabra, Plantronics, Sony, Bose, all tell you the same thing if you are out of warranty. Go buy new ones. They are NOT serviceable.

Which is why I bought the Master & Dynamic MW07 for $300. For the price I get better SQ and fit and with a 2 year warranty I don’t have to worry about the battery until nearing the end of the warranty which if it is an issue just get it replaced.

Bose does have a history of fixing stuff slightly out of the warranty period so YMMV

Non sequitur. The "sucker" part has to do with a company charging loyal customers $160 for a product that apparently has an 18-month life expectancy, if that.

The company makes a product.

It is up to you, the consumer, to evaluate that product to see if it’s worth the cash. If it’s not and it’s bought, then the person buying it is the sucker, not the company making/selling the product.

For their larger products. Bose does not fix their small in ear headphones.

That’s how they got that much cash on hand in the first place!
