They start to slip for me about 15-20 minutes into a run, but it's mostly because I'm currently out of shape (working on it!) and the sweat starts to pour around then. It gets behind and makes them loosen up. I ordered EarHoox and i'm hoping they'll help out until I get myself in better shape.

Let us know how the hooks improves if any. I'm interested to see

How do the current owners find the AirPods for this sort of thing?
Do they stay in while running/moving about a lot?
Is it annoying not being able to change song?
Would you buy them if this was the only reason for the purchase?

I don't go to the gym, I trail run.

1) Airpods were very comfortable to wear, didn't get dislodged under a hood or beanie (with ear flaps). Able to hear ambient noise better so able to use both earbuds at a time.

2) Stayed in place quite well despite the technical terrain.

3) I would not. There are other truly wireless earbuds that are geared for fitness/sports activities. If you were just running on a treadmill the Airpods would probably suffice. But for outdoor activities with a change of rain, personally would not use the Airpods (I know they survived a washing machine cycle). If you want to sacrifice audio quality for comfort, then the Airpods will work well. If you have an Apple Watch or have no issues with the lack of audio controls then the Airpods would work just fine. If you prefer hearing ambient noise, Airpods would be the better choice.

I forgot to mention that in my post. Yeah, it's an option, but I've found nothing to be more annoying than trying to run and tap one of the AirPods, and then to ask Siri to change the song while I can barely breathe :p

Nothing like running on a 6% grade trail with roots and slippery rocks in 30F windy weather and attempting to double tap the AirPod to summon Siri just to skip a song. And once you finally summon Siri you get the response "Sorry I don't recognize ....". :)

Double-tap, say "skip" & not care what others at gym think.

Also, adjust volume level as you walk into gym. Ask Siri what percentage of volume that level is & remember that percentage. Then, whenever you go to gym, say "set volume xx%" & don't worry about it during your workout. If it needs that rare slight adjustment, just say "increase/decrease volume" & you're done.

Good point, I guess I'm more reliant on the in-line controls than I realise. They would work great with the shuffle though, shame it doesn't have bluetooth :(

How sure are we that sweat won't damage these things as they did the EarPods?

Interesting thought, I hadn't thought about the damage that could be caused from using these everyday at the gym.

I assume they would be covered for 12 months for this sort of thing and after that I would have to buy my own.

My EarPods have done just fine over the last 2 and bit years. But they don't have batteries or BT internals etc.

Ok, so there's a massive difference. These things are great and 100% solve my issue. The larger ones fit perfect for me but they come with 2 sizes in the package. Little bit of fiddling taking them off/on but minor and just part of the routine of unpacking my gym bag in the morning now. I just keep the Earhoox in the gym bag.

Are you using the old earhoox or the new 'improved' version?

No physical controls and not officially being sweat proof were dealbreakers for me on top of the price tag.

I just ordered this from Amazon for workouts. I will report back once I have had a chance to use it.

I've heard that it's way to heavy and it ends up pulling the AirPods out. I've been thinking about doing a DIY thing at home with some tape and a really thin and light thread.

I hope not, I ordered one for walking around. Won't use it at the gym though. I like the lack of a wire at the gym.

So, here is my assesment after now a bit more than a month of use.
For the GYM, they are fine. They don't really seem to want to fall out (maybe lying flat on one's back for bench or stretching or something) but most times they are fine. Sound quality is good and I find them very light and effective.

For running, totally different story. IF they fit snug in your ears, you MIGHT be okay, but if they aren't snug (either fit flush or behind that little fin on the front of the ear lobe) they are going to want to jossle OUT and you will constantly be trying to seat them and make sure they are back in the ear. THIS is a DISTRACTION while trying to focus on the running part of running. Granted, I only run about 10 min/mile pace (6mph) but there is enough moving around to make it pretty annoying. I've moved back to my mpow in ear noise isolators and they are much better for that purpose. As I don't run with my phone (just the apple watch with music and paired to either via BT) I don't miss any of the enhance airpod functions with this setup.

I've tried some foam covers, to try and make the fit better. Doesn't really work. I've tried some attachable cords and that actually seems to make it WORSE. The jossling of the cord either in FRONT or BACK of the neck, makes the looseness of the airpods in MY ears worse and they fall out MORE often. At least they don't fall on the ground, but still it's not a workable solution for me.

YMMV

pulled the earbuddyz off my old earpods and used a pen to punch holes for the sensors.. they're holding up so far but waiting for the new model to be released or picking up the earhoox to give them a try

The EarPods constantly fall out of my ears..but the AirPods stay in. I've ran, did jumping jacks, etc and they stay in my ears. I'm pleasantly surprised.
