I had the Jaybird X2 and used a product called Decibullz to create a custom fitted seal. Loved those headphones but eventually the power button failed and they were replaced with the new Jaybird Freedom F5. They have an extremely small head but a heavy inline battery/remote. I again used the Decibullz to create a custom fit and seal but the inline remote still moves in their traditional under ear fit (I use the traditional fit because I use the headphones for calls too and changing the orientation moves the mic).

Onto the AirPods: perfect thus far. Haven't budget in my ears. Great for runs, weight lifting and dynamic movements. It's been 2 workouts and they are already my go to workout headset.

No problems upside down even: https://instagram.com/p/BOQqnzfAxbd/

That said if you want noise isolation and don't mind a cord between the buds the X3 by Jaybird would probably be my second choice.

Was waiting for BeatsX, but snapped up AirPods Tuesday. I'm so thrilled to lose the cord resting on the back of my neck, I'm going to skip the BeatsX.

I only workout indoors, so if I ever forget I'm wearing them and wipe one away with the sweat from my face, I can easily retrieve it.

W1 chip is the new black. Choosing among a zillion BT headphones (and growing) is now a whole lot easier.

Apple Watch as your music source retains one major irritation (syncing a playlist to it) but using BT headphones finally "just works" the way I wanted.

I'm not a fan, and the included airbuds tend to fall out of my ears so I would assume that would be the case for these as well.

If you have a broken wired pair, you can test the fit by cutting off the cords.

I've never had EarPods in my ears, but am pleasantly surprised by AirPods. I can certainly see how EarPods would fall out of my ears with a cord pulling on them. I always preferred third party headphones and saved my iphone accessories in mint condition for optimal resale/gifting value.

I use Powerbeats 2 for running and will probably continue to do so as they're light, comfortable and don't isolate sound (important when running outdoors!). I may give my AirPods a shot at running when I get them but I think I'd be worried about them falling out.

I was actually looking at the Powerbeats 3 but they claim to be noise isolating which seems like a step backwards to me

Ran 5 miles this morning on the treadmill and they felt completely secure the entire run. They really don't feel like you have anything in your ears, and the lack of annoying cord on the back of my neck making the "thump thump thump" sound was wonderful.

I'll be trail testing these (single earbud style) at the Grand Canyon on Sunday, doing a rim - Phantom Ranch - rim run/hike. Looking forward to it!

I don't need to test fit them, because they fall out of my ears already

Are you sure that's not because the wires are pulling them out? I haven't tried AirPods yet myself, but from what I've been reading, a lot of people who have trouble with EarPods falling out have found that AirPods do stay in.

They don't have the weight of the cable so they stay in your ears a little better. They still need to be pushed in and pop loose sometimes for me. It's not terrible but if I'm consciously pushing them back in they aren't working "right" for me.

I may have to revisit the option of running with the AirPods as I broke my Powerbeats this morning (they fell apart when I took them off :() - I have glued them back together but won't know if they'll hold up until my run tomorrow

Ouch. How old were they?

I wish Apple gave us an in ear version of the AirPods! I get that the Powerbeats X are kinda that, but they still have the stupid cord, which is not necessary as Apple has just proved!

About 18 months old. Finally got my AirPods this morning and am very inpressed with them, apart from on my iMac where they are basically unusable: the sound constantly breaks up. It could be due to having a keyboard, trackpad and mouse all connecting over bluetooth but whatever it is, I will only be using them on my i devices
Edit: Figured out the problem: I had a logitech wireless adapter plugged in to my iMac (I use a different mouse when playing games) and that was causing the problems: Unplugged it and they work great on all my devices :D

I'd love to lose the cable between my headphones for running, although a bit of me does like that I can take one or both of them out and leave them draped round my neck.

If Apple had included some sort of silicon ear-tip/cover in different sizes, I think the AirPods would have been a day one purchase for me. It would certainly have made me less nervous about what happens if one drops out when I'm running on a hill for example as I wouldn't fancy my chances of finding one in long grass or heather.

Great thought.

Including a strap with the removable Airpods would help many users to feel more comfortable.

They have for me.

i received my airpods yesterday. Took my first run with them this morning. I am very happy they stayed secure. I did not expect them to be so stabil. Earpods always came loose and i added silicone tips to them. I think the constant tugging of the cord shook them loose. So far i am very impressed. Took no phone with me, just used apple watch for music, run tracking. If you are hesitant to buy airpods because earpods fell out, you should reconsider.

Very happy with airpods.

Now they just need to allow 3rd party running apps(like mapmyrun) to track runs on apple watch.
