Airpods in the wild?

Are people starting to notice lots of people out and about with Airpods on? Here in Thailand where I live I am the only one I know that has them. I have never seen a pair of them other than the ones I own. When I go out with them people make comments or point. I know Thailand is a little behind tech wise but how about other countries?

I just got back from a trip to the USA and didn't see any either. Although I wasn't riding mass transit like the NYC subway. So how often do you guys encounter somebody wearing them on an average day?

Funny you should mention this, I was actually just at major shopping mall where I live in a fairly large city. And I saw at least three people wearing them in public. I saw one male driving in a car in the mall parking lot that had them on and two other individuals walking around in the mall that was wearing them. To me, they don't look as awkward as I thought they would seeing them in person.

But I love mine and how well they work. One of the better products I purchased this last year. Excellent product, even with the delay, they were worth it.

Agreed. I would go as far to say that they are one of the better products Apple has made in recent years. They have a few quirks but are a Rev A product for Apple so will be curious to see what they do when they update them.

Tim, if you are listening you could charge a prince's ransom for matte black Airpods with no other change than Bluetooth 5. They could also pack them in with the new premium iPhone. So if you want the black ones you have to buy the $1,000 flagship. Now I am getting off topic but a man can dream.

It's sporadic to see Airpods out in public. Runners would probably use them more frequently outdoors. With better weather in the summer and availability catching up, I imagine that there will be more sightings.

I wear my Airpods during my work day indoors continuously for music and calls. Going outside, I'll remove them as a change.

It's my most wearable device, more so than the Apple Watch.

I've yet to meet another Airpod owner. Even at the gym. People still stop me and ask about them like they're brand new.

Dozens and dozens in Manhattan. Definitely suited for an on the go community. Allows situational awareness, no cords to tangle or get caught on a crowded subway

The freedom of the wires is really nice once you try the Airpods and their very comfortable for me to wear, which is huge, because if they're not comfortable, you won't wear them.

For sure. I get occasional discomfort with mine but as I've posted elsewhere, I have the BeatsX for when I need isolation and those are supremely comfortable. But not a great idea while crossing 5th Avenue.

Also, was wearing my Beats yesterday in the rain and was struggling with the cord and my hood. Swapped out for the pods anyway since I was venturing outside but not even something I realized pre-totally wireless

Two people at my gym besides me. Other than that I have not seen anyone else with them. Must be a workout thing.

In Georgia I have seen only one person with them in public and it was at a supermarket.

The Airpods aren't cheap and not easy to get. EarPods come with the iPhone and I have seen many of them in the wild. Most just use those for casual listening.

When somebody usually wants something they tend to snatch it up. BUT when availability is an issue, people tend to lose interest and save their money on something that is really more of a luxury than a need.

I wanted the new upcoming Tesla, the wait in too long and I don't really want it anymore.

bc they have no noise isolation. you'll see most athletes wearing beats usually over ear headphones

Other than the AirPods I own, I have only seen one other person rocking them. That lone person was while I was in D.C. for the weekend last month. I have yet to see anyone around my area with a pair.

Seems even amongst the most avid enthusiasts reports of sighting them are a tad slow. This leads me to believe they aren't a failure but the supply constraint is real and not imagined.

One of my coworkers has them and loves them. He described it as one of the best products Apple has made recently. I've seen maybe two other strangers wearing them out in the wild.

Availability is still very scarce; None of the stores I've been to has had them in stock, and online availability still says about 6 weeks which is crazy considering they've been available for almost 4 months now.

I take public transit to work so I see a lot of people everyday.
Plenty of iPhone users, many of them are also Beats users (most with solo2 or studio 2) but I saw just a couple of people wearing AirPods.

In AR here and I work at a university. I'd say I see them weekly, but not daily. Then again, my schedule doesn't vary much, so I'm probably seeing (or conversely not seeing) the same ones day after day and week after week.

Yes, agreed. Part of the reason I made this thread is to find out how limited supplies are. It seems that every few days they ship 3 pairs to a store and sell out.

Took a flight out of JFK yesterday, saw around a dozen pairs on people throughout the terminal
