Airpods in the wild?

Funny...kids and I are in San Fran on vacation right now. My 11 year old said he saw his first pair ever in the wild. I had seen a pair about an hour earlier and just hadn't mentioned it to him. I have seen them a few times back at home too. I do not own a pair as I know I will lose one.

I have not seen anyone else with them in my Borough. Pretty sure I will see folks with the airpod. Spring is here... Summer around the corner! Went to Manhattan 3 weeks ago and not one person.

I've only seen a couple of people using them around town - one at the gym and the other at the mall near the Apple store... but I saw about 6 or 7 folks with them when I traveled by plane last month... PHX, LAX and IAD airports ... even shared a "cool guy" head nod with one dude - we noticed each other's Airpods almost simultaneously.

I also realize that they're really subtle. Unless I'm seeing the person from a side view, they're not apparent and I think that's part of the appeal.

Seen them a couple of times at work. I'm alone with them at the gym. See people dropping phones left and right on the treadmill due to short wires on the earpods or snagging them with the arm or hand when running.

I've seen 2 people wearing them.. One on the street of NYC the other was a customer at the genius bar returning them or having an issue with them.

I was wearing mine the other day at the mall and people looked at me i don't know if the thought i was crazy or jealous.

For you gym people how are they holding up with sweat and discoloration?

I live in London and have one seen them once in the wild, apart from myself wearing them.

I have seen more and more people with them in Manhattan, NYC. I assume as people get them delivered because of the backordering. I just got a pair today and I love them. They don't look as awkward as most people would think. They work really well. No complaints so far.

A year since the previous post in this thread, I’m seeing lots of AirPods during my daily commute. Twice I’ve counted four of us wearing them next to each other in the same train car.

[Update 4/30/18] There were six of us wearing them while standing next to each other in the same half of the subway car just now. Nobody seemed to find it unusual, so I guess AirPods are here.

Rarely see them here in the CA high desert - but lower incomes here could be why. I know when they first came out, my first sighting of an AirPod in the wild was in the middle of the street, one AirPod, run over by a car. I felt so bad for whoever lost that.

Got my first pair over the weekend. Can't say I've seen too many - most of the ones I have seen are in the airports - I'm looking to use mine on a business trip next week - not too confident about using them on the airplane but we'll see how they do for podcasts.

I used mine on an A380 - biggest plane in Qantas' range, & they were great. It might depend on the aircraft as the A380 was a quiter model than others I've flown in. Using AirPods at full volume would've been way too loud. ~75% was enough to block out cabin noise. But fyi, my Airpods fit very snug in my ears.... they're a perfect fit & don't allow noise to escape. This is also a key factor.

Singapore (my destination) had HEAPS of AirPods in the wild, used by people in a variety of professions. The iPhone X was also owned by many over there.

I’ve seen more and more around while riding transit around the city.

I got them before christmas when they launched. It took a couple of weeks before I saw the first other guy eoth them and now it’s at least 3/10 in the gym with them. Also see a pair each 15 minutes at work.

So these and Watch are really common now. The first months with both you saw that it was tech guys and men how got them. Now I see 50 year old ladies with Watch and AirPods on their iPhone X.

Maybe this is a thing in Norway only..

I live in nyc and I see people wearing AirPods everywhere. It’s nuts how common they are to see here.

I see on average 8 people a day with AirPods in London, UK. Getting very popular.
