I've found a headband cushion that does a pretty good job of preventing the APM's two hard plastic-covered metal bars from digging into my scalp, due to the APM's stretchy headband fabric flattening out over the past year and a half. They're the Geekria Hook and Loop Headband Cover + Headband Pad Set: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HQGTR7D. It's currently $15.99. For some reason the listing says this is a frequently returned item, but I've had no issues with it, and it seems sturdy. It also works with a slew of other headphone models, which the listing lists. The pad part of the assembly is separately replaceable, since it's held to the zippered cover using Velcro, and Geekria also has some kind of cooling pad option as well.

I also bought two other manufacturer's headband covers that look sort of similar to the Geekria in their listing photos, to compare them all, one from TXEsign and another from Desing Wish (who comes up with these names?), but the padding in those models is almost nonexistent.

I also bought a pair of third-party APM ear cushions from Gvoears, for a little less than half the price ($28) of Apple's ($70), since my APM's original ear cushions had flattened out slightly and so I feel more pressure around my ears from them, but I'm not sure how impressed I am with the Gvoears cushions since they don't seem to provide as much cushioning as the original cushions did--they cushion only a little better than my original cushions do now, so I didn't come out ahead much.

And still get bested by Sony and Bose in every way (except build quality). I am amazed people still buy these for such a premium over the better offerings. Really shows the power of the Apple brand (and sheepiness).
The premium is worth it for me to seamlessly switch between 3-4 apple devices.

Mine had major connection issues around the two-year mark. A battery replacement temporarily fixed the connection issues until it happened again. Then I spent a good couple of months to a year of resetting my headphones every every single time I picked them up until they finally bricked. It’s a shame because I loved the sound quality and the device switching was out-of-this-world. Others have had similar experiences.
Similar story except for the battery replacement. They still power on but no sound ever comes out and they flip back and forth between connection and disconne tion. I paid $380 which was a lot as it was but NO WAY if thry will only last a few years.

I received £400 in apple vouchers so will buy a new pair of air pod max because I find them comfortable but would not be buying at full retail their are much better headphones for the money. Even my air pod pro 2 headphones I bought in prime sale £169 and they work great in the apple ecosystem.Usb-c and colour change is cheap and an insult to its customer base.

I usually don’t buy extended warranties or AppleCare+ for most of my purchases, but I make an exception for headphones and earbuds. Over the years, I’ve had my Beats earbuds replaced twice and a pair of Bose headphones replaced, all thanks to extended warranties.

Recently, I picked up a pair of refurbished AirPods Max in Space Gray from Target for $275 after stacking my employee discount and Target RedCard savings. They weren’t eligible for AppleCare+, and while they do come with a 6-month warranty, I decided to purchase a 2-year Allstate warranty for extra peace of mind.

Given how much wear and tear headphones go through, IMO the extra coverage is worth it—especially for a deal like this.

certainly expensive but i won't be upgrading mine maybe ever so 549 is alot but if i lasts me for 5-10 years then worth the money i guess.

For the same $$$ you can do better in terms of sound, looks, weight, carrying case, and included cables.
I know, but in terms of connectivity and hand off, I can’t, so I don’t really care. Apple not updating the hardware is pretty shoddy but 🤷🏻‍♂️

I really like the AirPods Max, and use the Max Stand (https://www.themaxstand.com/) to charge them magnetically so the lightning port is not an issue for me, and they are always charged.

I would’ve strongly considered upgrading if the new models had the new chips cause I really like Adaptive Audio, but oh well.

The current models sounds great. They are heavy, however I do find them comfortable for how I use them.
