i have been observing this on almost every reviewers video.
is that a design oversight?
will that eventually result in a dent and/or scratches in the medium to long term of use given the metallic nature on the aluminium cups?
does it bother you?

Yeah I have noticed it... Very annoying to say the least... I am a bit concerned about how it will age... We might see some scuffs, dents and scratches on the ear-cups...
Very annoying for me since I like to keep my Apple products in a mint condition.

Most if not all high end headphones that I have owned never seem to do that.

Also enhanced by the fact that the materials are not metallic.

I don't see it as a huge issue... this only occurs when the earcups are rotated into "flat mode", which you'd likely only do if you were storing them away in the case anyway.

I think it is a very significant issue unless you really want always to be extra careful and babysit them.

Do you mean they’re hitting each other, or hitting on each other? They’re two quite different concepts, the latter requiring the ear cups to attain sentience.

Perhaps my English is not as good as yours but hoping others could have understood what I was trying to say.

That's why I have stuck on a small silicon circle at the contact point. Looks a bit naff but no one but me will see it.

Aluminium is quite a strong metal that’s why its used. To make any sort of scuffs or dents you’d have to hit it with much more force than these do when they come out of the case.

It is not only when taking them out of the case.

I have watched a wide variety of YouTube early reviewers videos and seen the cups rattle against each other a good number of times.

I didn’t mean to offend, it was more a comment about English; that a sentence can completely change meaning with the addition of one tiny word. It conjured up an amusing mental image. :)

what other reason would you have to have the cups facing that way unless you were taking it out of the case?

The reviewers will be holding them in all sorts of positions as they try to explain and make their videos.

In this video Lew is very careful with them but you can still see and hear the cups banging.

Now in real and unrestricted life usage it will call for some serious babysitting unless you are one of those who are not too fussy.

Or just don’t turn the ear cups so they’re facing that way? As others have said it’s just for the review.

I have a pair and the only reason I turn them that way is to put them in the case. Then they twist round and it’s not an issue.

Fair enough. That will be part of carefully looking after them which I am on about.
