Left them out of case at 1230 today, 99%, left them at home while I went out.

Came back just now, 2030, they’re still at 99%. Hmm.

For now, I’m not putting them anywhere near the case lol!
Try doing the same. But right after factory rested then and in the case.
And see how it goes.

After the factory reset, so far in improved a lot. Better than going from 95% to 50% overnight. Last night it was at 80% before going to bed (10 PM). Woke up this morning at 7 am and it was at 76%. So 4% drain overnight isn't bad. Plus it was in the case.

That’s good. I have the same behavior. What I’ve noticed is that the more battery is has , the less it drains.
When I had 100% battery, it hold 100% inside the case over the night.
when I had. I had it whether around 69% it lost around 4%.
And now I went to sleep at 23% and after 7:30 hours , it was at 15%.

Other thing to have in consideration is that I used the headphones with the iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV, and I think the battery drains has something to do with using it white several devices.

Been experiencing the severe battery drain issue lately as well. Just did the reset and threw them on the charger. We’ll see how it goes.

71% down to 16% overnight. Third time now after two factory resets.

I love them, but I’m not sure I’m keeping them now. I can arrange a replacement, sure, but the whole no power button thing may come back to bite later again and I don’t want the constant 45 minutes support chats again and again over the products life.

It’s really disappointing. Every AirPods product I’ve had has exhibited problems, my AirPods Pro are faulty (lose settings) but Apple won’t replace them. Same goes for my wife’s AirPods Pro, which themselves had to be replaced due to rattle, and now lose settings. OG Airpods had to replace one earphone, battery health plummeted too quickly.

Other manufactures are onto something with a power button, who knew? There’s something reassuring about my other headphones knowing they’ll be exactly how I left them, battery wise. I know my APM are clearly amongst the exceptions and appear to be faulty, but I feel a bit burnt by the drain, and going forward I feel like I’ll be waiting for it to happen again.

TLDR; I love them, but I don’t want to be stuck with £550 headphones I’m constantly returning/replacing.

7% sounds normal.

Even acknowledging this feels a bit idiotic, and speaks to my growing distaste for no power off facility.

Oh no. You sure you performed the factory reset until the white light appeared ? If so, you should defiantly return it or exchange it. Maybe try unpaired it from your iPhone and pair it back , after factory restoring it.

Thanks yeah, might try the unpair. I’ve done the factory reset.

I reeeeally don’t want to return them for good, they’ve utterly spoiled all my other headphones for around the house use. Plus, the moment Apple TV hardware with spatial audio arrives I’ll be jamming the order button, and I’d get them next Christmas lol!

How many hours is your overnight about? Sometimes I got 3%, sometimes 4 %, sometimes even 0% of drain overnight. It is very random.
But not 50% as before.
Edit: Oh, that wasn’t directed at me, ha. Still..

I used them with Apple TV last night until about midnight. I put the ATV back to amplifier speaker out, used them briefly with iPhone, then put them in the case. They were 71%, and down to 16% when I got up at about 0830.

Crazy thing is, if I’d been USING them for that 8 hours they’d probably still have about 35%+ battery left (rough estimate).

They barely drain during the day, in use, and between using them. Always at night it dive bombs.

Also check that when you put them In The case they disconnect from your iPhone ( check that the battery widget doesn't show the AirPods once you close the case).
There must be something that makes their processor not rest.

Im still doing test with battery. I’m listening music with 1% of battery so far for an hour, waiting for it to turn off . But they don’t yet. I think their calibration could be a problem too.

try using it until they are off.

Yeah I look to see if it’s no longer connected each time, I have the battery widget on my Home Screen.

I’ve unpaired and repaired after a factory reset, see if that helps.

Thinking on it, I’m not going to return them for good, I think I’m clearly in the minority, and I’d come to regret it fast. A replacement, if it comes to that, will probably be fine.

Lol! Yeah good point. Fingers crossed I’ve resolved it, although I’m not too hopeful given it’s happened a few times. Maybe the case is defective or something? However, sometimes when I’ve left it out of the case for many hours unused I’ve seen quite a big hit too, but not nearly as severe. Other times, it’s barely budged ?

Edit: I’ve also rebooted all devices I connect it with, 2 iPads, phone, ATV. See if that makes a difference. Must admit, I go aaaaages between rebooting iPads.

Well. Let me know how it goes. In very interested in finding out the cause and solution of the battery drain.

I don’t use my 11” iPad much around the house, strictly for work, so I’ve turned BT off on that while at home. See if it makes a difference.

/grasping at straws ?

How was the issue with the rest of you. Did the factory reset worked so far?
reset. was at 100% for over 24 hours. I took them out the case for 1 minute to show someone. next day at 91%. was losing ~10% overnight prior to reset. on the latest firmware

Experiencing the same issue here — they were at 93% when I went to bed last night, putting them in their “case”, and then dropped to 1% at 4p today when I picked them up to use them again. I’m now on the latest firmware, but not sure what it shipped with. Just reset them and repaired with iCloud. We’ll see how they are in the morning. When actually using them with Apple Music, the battery decreased super slowly, so it’s super weird they can drop that quickly overnight.

I performed the factory reset yesterday and then threw them on the charger. Took them off the charger at 12:40am last night and they were at 100%. I checked this morning at around 8:00AM and they were still at 100%. Haven’t used them all day today and honestly haven’t even bothered to check again where they are at right now. I’ll be interested to see where they are tomorrow morning when I put them on while working.

Mine have behaved since yesterday. Light usage yesterday, stopped using them at 90% last night. Didn’t use case, woke up and they’re 86%.

I unpaired and repaired yesterday for the first time, previously just factory reset. I’m really hoping that’s made a difference.

I have this issue. Re-pairing, resetting does not work for me.

63% down to 16% in a space of 6 hours in case. Then 16% down to 7% when I went to bed last night.

when they were released and people complained about lack of power button I rolled my eyes. Figured it was another thing people loved to complain about, but after battery drain like this I get it now.

I will be returning my pair - when you buy convenience having to charge every day is not convenient. Especially when it is the only product in the house using lightning (iPad, Mac USB-C, iPhone wireless)

I love everything about the headphones except the battery issue and at £550 I expect it to work as advertised and not have to wait for an update. Buy for what it is now and not the promise of what it will be or could be.

Yep this is a bit nuts ready as people shouldn’t have to switch things off and switch things on trying to get them to work as Apple claim they do. If they don’t do as Apple promise then they need to be sent back for replacements or a refund

Had them for a few days now and having same issue with battery drain. Talked to apple support and only advice was to factory reset and to contact them if issue continues. Charged overnight so like others, will post how battery behaves.
