you lost something, you expect it to be given again for free or at discount?

hmm..

Due to the design pitfalls and the fact that these things are hardly cheap, losing or having one fall out and break is going to be a very high probability over their useful lifespan. As Apple are aggressively pushing people in the direction of wireless by removing the AUX jack, they should take into consideration the design limitations of the Airbuds and offer some kind of inclusive or *very* cheap additional insurance policy against loss and breakage. After all, Apple are big on customer service and after sales support aren't they? To me this particular product is crying out for that famed aftersales service.

I'm all in though. I've been pretty much full on BT /wireless headphones for 2 years.
4 sets coming in Wednesday, 21st, unless they happen to get delivered earlier.

Interested to go running with them and see how they do. Currently use PowerBeats2 for that.

Also have a set of B&W sitting on a shelf because, for me, the convenience factor of wireless wins out.

I'm the only person that's going to know if they work for me and the only way to know that is to try them.

I've been on that wireless headphone kick since about 2005 or 2006. I don't even remember what brand they were, Panasonic maybe.

But how likely are they to fall out? From all reports they stay in your ears great and if one fell out you would notice and unless you are at the end of a cliff or near a drain. If you are listening to something and it comes out you know your air pod has been removed. When not in use it’s in the case so really I can’t see how it will be easily lost.

It's just placed in the ear and could fall out. There are many instances where this could happen but obviously not if you're just sitting down. Plus although you may not lose it, it could break when dropped or get trodden on etc. It's almost impossible to lose wired earphones and if you do, they're cheap to replace.

Anyway, it's just my opinion and I won't be buying any chiefly due to not wanting another battery to charge, the battery life itself and sound quality. For me these Airbuds have zero positives and yet a boatload of negatives.

If you don’t want to buy them that’s fair enough but to say there are no positives is a foolish think to say. Being wireless and syncing great with all your devices is a massive plus point as is the connection from all reviews is as good as any you will find on the market. It can go a good distance away from your device and still work great. Sure like anything there are negatives but wireless/great connection/syncing and not worrying about any wire crap is great. Battery life isn’t an issue as when in the case it will charge quickly and lasts for 24 hours. Not many people will use their air pods for 5 hours straight away.

It is your opinion and your entitled to that of course and clearly they aren't for you.

"The wire in between the earbuds on normal wireless earbuds is actually a convenience feature, if one of them falls out of your ear you don't have to go looking for it because it's attached to the wire..."

"So, would I recommend these over a similar pair of wireless earbuds like the Jaybird X3s? No."

I have something more to concern myself with than worrying about losing them or falling out, I have to get the damn things first. :)

Well actually he said would he personally use the jaybirds over the air pods. Not that he wouldn't recommend them. He also likes them but if he likes the jaybirds better then thats his choice.

I can't believe that it's really causing this much fuss. There a pair of EarPods, if you lost your keys (which are also small and don't come with a wire attached ;)) you wouldn't expect the company to cut you another key for free, or the locksmith to come and replace your locks for free.It is YOUR responsibility to look after YOUR possessions.

If you don't like the idea of wireless earphones, by all means get some wired ones, but comments saying that they have no positives are just silly, especially when reviews have come out naming positives.

I'm really hoping they sound good on calls. I'm on calls all day long and that is where the Bragi Dash let me down.

Poorly thought out article? It appears to be factually based. £75 to replace the battery in each airpod? These things are disposable then.

its relative to the price of the set, what's the isssue? Bragi will charge you $129 for one replacement bud

I bought the Earskinz from Amazon to better hold the earpods in place. Food for thought if earpods do not stay in your ears. They should fit the airpods since they are the same size.

But the AirPods have a sensor which allows it to pause and play when you take it in and out of your ear. The airskinz might cover that

Poor Beeb article, but what do people expect? Should Apple build in 1/2 replacements per order just in case? I think I'll be able to look after mine thanks

After getting the Airpods, I was considering the Dash for occasional outdoor use.

The price of the Dash and most BT headsets will drop quickly after the Airpods reaches momentum.

It may be that none other will be better than the Airpods for phone calls.

Did not think of that, I will give the Airpods a go with them first. If a no go, then I will just go without them and be careful.

I hope no-one complaining about losing AirPods will never buy a ring, or any other small item if they expect to lose these so easily. At least if they lose a ring, the shop will replace that for free...oh wait... /s

Really? That's the best comparison you could come up with....a ring?

Because we all know that the Airpods will be just as secure hanging from your ears as wearing a ring that fits tightly around your finger and in most cases would only come off if you take it off yourself.

I'm getting dumber by the day reading some of these posts. Jesus.

It's just placed in the ear and could fall out.
Question: do the regular earpods ever fall out of your ears?
If no, then you probably won't have that problem with the airpods either.
If yes, was it because the attached cord got snagged on something?
If yes, then do you really think you will have much of a problem if there is no cord?
If no, then simply buy something else (or nothing at all.)

Is it really necessary to keep on re-posting the same alarmist handwaving incessantly in post after post, though? People know your opinions by now, and you're just repeating yourself (perhaps in an attempt to convince people to your personal opinion.)

As for me, I've never had an earpod fall out spontaneously on me, and I use them all the time. I've never found a pair of silicon-tipped buds I've liked very much, they all feel as if they're not fitting properly or not forming a proper seal. Earpods have been the most comfortable buds I've ever used, and I started out with Sony Fontopias in the 1980s so I've had time to try a few since... :p I've also tried behind-the-neck corded bluetooth buds, and the cord snags on winter clothing, the collar of my shirt/sweater, and my hair, yanking annoyingly on the buds and causing noise in my ears.

Incidentally, earpods actually do sound pretty good if they fit your ear well, as they do mine. If they leak, well, obviously there goes your bass response. Being completely cordless, I expect airpods to fit even better than regular earpods since there's nothing pulling on them all the time, and thus sound better. Hopefully I will be able to buy my pair tomorrow (monday.)

My current headphones and earphones are feeling outdated even though they function well.

The transition to Airpods will be a welcomed relief in terms of a more elegant, integrated audio experience.

Like the iPhone, I can see having multiple Airpods for my family.

I remember my first set of wireless headphones *flash back sequence*...... They year, about 1994, hadn't quite gotten my drivers license yet but by god if I didn't pick up my first two CD's, Green Day Dookie and Offspring Smash, and all I had was some cheap rock hard headphones with a think metal headband that would pull your hair even when it wasn't moving. I begged my parents for wireless headphone and somehow convinced them. They were the biggest headphones I had ever seen! They came with a huge docking station that was also the outgoing antenna that you either sat them on and plugged in or plugged in while setting in on the stand i.e. you had to line up the hole and plug perfectly. Anyway, I would actually (back in the day) be able to fall asleep sleeping on these lil 6'' thick cans when sleeping on my side and I memorized both CD's is like a week. But yeah they looked about like your picture but bigger and all black. If there was a wall in the way or if I rolled over onto the side of the headphones with the receiver in it the pillow would cut out the signal and the music would stop. This was well before wifi but I think that they used the same type of signal.

EDIT:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-5-In-1-...eadset-with-Mic-for-PC-TV-Radio-/121487164714

looked almost identical to these but I don't believe they were sony and the stand/antenna were about double the size in width and depth

Can anyone truly comment on the sound quality yet? Would they be a step back forward or the same as Powerbeats 3?
