Which are you considering: Airpods or Beats X or PowerBeats 3?

Might get the AirPods to use at work, but def will be getting the Powerbeats 3 for the gym.
I've been using Powerbeats 1 and 2 for running. I loose them from the ears, and they are not for sure comfortable (but that's only my opinion)...

At first I was all over the Airpods, now I'm considering the BeatsX. I've always used the stock Apple earbuds, but now want wireless. I mostly use them for conference calls, working out (running) and some music. Which ones would be more practical and useful for me?

I think I'm going to buy the PowerBeats 3 earphones. I have been using the Plantronics BackBeat FIT which have been great but are difficult to pair with any new device.

The PowerBeats3 will be primarily used for gym and workouts and running and public transport.

I think the W1 chip is going to be such a big factor in Apple/Beats headphones going forward. Easy pairing and great distance allowed without sound cutting out.

I'm intrigued by the Solo3 too.

Both will work well for you, for what you describe.

Airpods have the edge for flexibility and future potential.

And a 24 hour battery usage, which means accessible to phone calls more easily.

Agreed and now leaning back towards the Airpods. And I think the neck strap on the BeatsX could be cumbersome.

I don't like neck buds so I'm leaning towards the Airpods but if they are too quiet or the SQ is awful then I'll give the Beats X a shot. I might just wait on the Beats X though... the PB2 are now $69-99 refurbished at Best Buy depending on the week so hopefully a year or 2 down the line the Beats X might be $50 which is far more reasonable. They'll never sell refurbished AirPods so I'm not going to even consider that.

Only way I'll consider the air pods is if the sound quality is significantly better than regular EarPods...otherwise it's beats x for me. Hope they come out soon

Just got my Solo 3's. very impressed with them. The set up is exactly as expected and switching between devices is superb.
Expensive but I am happy with them.
Will look at the Beats X when they are released as I like an in ear and on ear pair for different times.

BeatsX = October 27th

I would also like to know your source? Unless you're assuming this date because it's also the date of the Mac Event, otherwise unless you have substantial evidence, I find it hard to believe you know. If this is the date though then it should also be coming around the same time as the AirPods.

If the Powerbeats3 are just the 2's with the W1 chip in it then there's no chance I'd consider them. I bought a pair of 2s about this time last year and whilst they're a brilliant pair of headphones the build quality and reliability are terrible, I wish I had read the reviews on the Apple site before buying them. During the 11 months or so, I had them replaced three times - once because one of the earphone/buds broke off and twice because the remote stopped working altogether.

Airpods look really interesting but unfortunately they won't fit my ears so that's them out.

Still going to pick up a pair of BeatsX when they drop, but I got tired of waiting so I picked up a pair of Beats Solo3's today and I'm absolutely blown away. I prefer over the ear headphones for the gym, and these do NOT disappoint. Sound quality is absolutely out of control. And the battery life is amazing with the W1 chip. My only complaint? Charging with micro USB.

I know people think Beats are over priced garbage, but my experience with the couple pairs I've owned has been very positive. And they look pretty sleek.

Fully agree and in the same boat.

My sentiments exactly, I was all for the beats X but the wire when in your ear looks like it would be so close to you face.

AirPods for me. Apple's EarPods are the most comfortable earbuds I have ever used, but I know this is open to personal opinion. I also do not want wireless earbuds that are actually still connected via wire. It would bother me to have that cable hanging down on the back of my neck. The AirPods are truly wireless.

It is not acceptable to control the volume through Siri

I think that Apple have got this wrong because the whole idea is to be able to keep your phone in your pocket and quietly change your listening preferences. Its pointless having to get your phone out everything you want to make a change.
I have the watch so it wont be an issue for me but i can see that it would put many people off.
You're right in that the Apple Watch is best used for Airpods control.

This may also be the killer app that most have been waiting for: the AW music controls app.

Since the Watch OS3, I have used the music control app instead of the controls of BT earpieces. With so many listening devices, they each have varied controls. It's easier to use the Watch for all the activities of volume & selection adjustments.

It seems to be a subtle consideration and may have tremendous favorable results for the success of both the AW and Airpods. It's possible that most AW users will get Airpods. That would be about 15M very quickly.

I still don't understand this one size fits all approach from Apple and how you fit those earpods to your ears. In my family we have 0% success rate. They don't fit to me, my wife and to my sister in law.
In-ear airpods please!

Is there any evidence that the BeatsX will have better sound quality than the Airpods? Or is it just an assumption at this point?
