Looks like Apple changed plans last minute.

These things don't charge via lightning cable like was mentioned at keynote (or at least that's the message I think Apple gave at the keynote).

The power beats 3 charge with micro-usb :(

They never said they charged by lightning...the beats X charge via lightning.

my 2 cents...

Just received my Black Powerbeats3.

I'm tired of Bluetooth issues with headphones and don't want to deal with a cable to my iPhone.
I also need to wear them while exercising, so need secure fit and sweat proof.

So far I like the earhooks and the fact that I can wear them loosely to hear outside sounds which I'll do when running and then can push them in and get a pretty good seal for at home listening. That makes them pretty versatile.

The pairing was seamless with both iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Pro 12.7.

Inline controls work well and don't require much hunting or fidgeting with.

So far, all that is great. Fantastic really.

Sound quality, while I'm not terribly disappointed, isn't all that great. It's a little too much bass for my liking and the quality isn't as clean, but given the above features and the fact that they are more for exercising then casual listening, it'll be okay.

All in all they are a great purchase. I'm curious if anyone uses them while flying and how they would compare to some noise canceling headphones like the Bose. The seal seems pretty good so they might work okay...

Did you have to manually pair with both your iPhone and iPad? i Thought with the W1 that only one pairing process was necessary?

Can Siri understand you just as good as with the EarBuds?

After I paired with iPhone 7 Plus, tried them a bit and shut them off. Went to iPad and say they were already paired in bluetooth settings and they said Disconnected. So I powered them back up and connected them. So they were already paired to the iPad.

Siri seemed to work great in the couple of tests I did on my iPad.

Microphone quality was okay, a little echo'ey or as if I'm in a bit of a hall sound, but not too bad.

I just got the Powerbeats3 and they sound pretty bad compared to the Powerbeats2. I'm trying to figure out if I just got a bad pair or if everyone else is having the same issue. I'm no audiophile, but the difference is quite noticeable.

The W1 chip is the reason for better battery.

Had a question about the W1 chip. So does it improve the battery life of the headset itself? For example if I use the Beats Solo 3 with an Android phone or my Windows desktop, would I still get the same 40 hour battery life?

I believe it is only the extended battery when used with an iOS device. Can't remember where I heard that though...

I called Beats tech support and they claimed that the extended range and battery should apply to all devices (Android, Windows, etc).

Good to know! I have been waiting to get mine from Best Buy whenever they become available since I have some gift cards to use up.

Unrelated to this thread, but you're better off buying expensive items with credit cards because they extend your warranty; normally it's another year, with a Citi card it's another 2 years! Use your BB gift cards for other gift cards. Here are some ideas:
- Google Play: You can pay for Youtube Red
- Apple iTunes: You can basically pay for any subscription using using in-app purchases. I purchased a year of Lastpass premium for example.

Thats an excellent point on the warranty. Best Buy doesn't even sell a warranty on this model. Apple doesn't either.

Yes and remember, your credit card extended warranty is free! I bought a Intel 80gb SSD back in 2010 for $200+. It went bad 4 years later. Luckily my credit card company added the extra year and they ended up reimbursing me for a new 512gb SSD.

Any follow up observations on this point? Curious to know as I haven't had the previous ones so not quite sure what to expect with regards to sound quality.

I got the PB2 for around $79, I do not see myself going for the PB3. The PB2 suffice for my price paid, not more than that.

Can't decide between Beats X and AirPods. I've had Beats for awhile...looking for that W1 chip, though. I suppose it will be all about what comes out first. I am, however, leaning a bit towards the Beats X. Would LOVE to have no wires at all, though. I have the Powerbeats 2 and I like them...but the cable tends to "catch" on my neck if I turn my head. Kinda uncomfortable at times.

If I'm spending $100+ on a set of wireless headphones/ear buds, I would want them to sound better than the EarPods that come free with iPhone

I hear you there...and agree with you. However, I don't mind the sound of the EarPods and the idea of no wires at all is VERY attractive. (The lack of controls do concern me, however I can control everything with my Apple Watch.)

I had the same thought.

Especially due to the Airpods delivery delay.

I already have a BT with a back of the neck cable. I'm ready for something new & better.

The Airpods still seems the best alternative even with the uncertainty of shipping.

I can wait.
