I have this pausing issue now happen to me with offline podcasts since a few weeks at first with Downcast app (podcast app) and it's really annoying. Then I thought it might be the app because it hasn't been updated in ages. So I switched to Pocket Cast app but the same problem occured and now also with iCatcher! app as well.

I don't use an Airpods though but Mpow Magneto bluetooth headphones which have been working since ages (although this is my third pair).

I also couldn't find a setting in any of them that caused this. I just did a restart of my iPhone SE running the latest iOS10.3.2 official version and see if it helped or not.

Ive been having the same issue. I’ve noticed a pattern that might be part of the cause.

Listening to my podcast on my iPhone 6 with my AirPods I stepped out of range of the phone and the audio became spotty and intermittent (as it normally does when out of range). So I walked back to the phone and carried it w me. That’s when the ‘ghost’ pausing started. After reading some of these threads I thought maybe it’s a connectivity issue having to do with the case. So I grabbed the case (which was back where my phone was) and put it in my pocket w the phone. So far it hasn’t paused since.

So, maybe when the phone initially became out of range, it disrupted the connectivity between all 3 devices (phone, pods & case) causing the proximity of the case to factor in, creating the ‘ghost’ pausing.

Does anyone know of any connectivity issues w the case’s proximity?

In my case it seems it had to do with the wind blowing when I was using my bluetooth headphone (3rd party) together with my iPhone SE which is in my pocket. It almost never happen now with any app I've mentioned before.

Glad I'm not the only one. I use the Podcast app a lot and notice this issue almost everyday.[/QUOTE

This also happens with the music app. Seems to have something to do with Siri. I’ll invoke it, ask it a question. Then playback continues.

This has only happened while I use my Airpods but I've been having slight issues of my airpods pausing my music/podcast/audio on it's own. I have the default settings on so double tap is for Siri, so I know I'm not accidentally tapping it to pause. Recently I noticed that when my alarm on my Apple watch goes off it pauses my music but this happens when my alarm isn't going off either.

Anyone else having "ghost" pauses to their audio?

I had this problem too buddy, I put them back in the case and connected the case to my laptop. For whatever reason that fixed the issue when I disconnected from the laptop and reconnected to my iPhone. It’s worth a shot if you’re still having problems.
