And you keep missing my point, which is that I immediately noticed a difference, which means there’s a difference. And no amount of people agreeing with that or disagreeing with it will change the fact that I noticed a difference.
Not to belabor the point, but you 'noticing a difference' doesn't actually mean a difference exists. 😉 Show me the data.

5E135 is just a security update. Didn’t bring new features or bugfixes. Also, I recently bought an AirPods Pro Gen 2 which came with a version prior to 5E135. There was no difference.

Can you just see the Apple engineers laughing at all of this...
Not really. I mean, if the ANC is weakened or reduced, I'm quite sure it wasn't an intentional move to 'stick it to' AirPods Pro owners - if anything, it would have been an adjustment to improve battery life or something. That said, if there has been a reduction in the effectiveness of ANC, it would be easy enough to prove, using testing methods that have already been used to measure the AirPods' frequency response and ANC. And until I see actual data that confirms a change, I'm not going to get my panties in a twist about it. FWIW, I haven't noticed a decrease in ANC effectiveness with any firmware since launch day, so ... 🤔

There was quite a bit of news discussion about this while back. Late last year, Apple settled a lawsuit with Pinn over the use of Pinn patents involved with active noise cancellation. Speculation has been that it is possible Apple may had had to alter their ANC as conditions of the settlement.

So we do have a possible motive.

Edit: I believe there were 2 lawsuits, here is info on the other. I’m not sure if it’s settled.

The above article states 3 separate instances where Apple has altered ANC in their devices as a result of the patents and litigation in question. It is possible that they are continuing to tweak it.

Yeah, I vaguely remember reading about that. Still, if the ANC has been reduced as a result of that litigation (or any other reason!) it should be very easy to prove.

It is. I put them in my ears and the anc is worse.

And mine aren't noticeably worse with the new firmware. Which of us is correct? How could we possibly determine that? Oh, right. Testing. If the ANC is worse with the newer firmware, testing will prove it. Rather than relying on anecdotal "evidence," how about some actual data? Not a difficult concept, really.

I’m correct.I couldn’t give a damn about what you’re hearing.

I bought the APP2 just to block the constant chit-chat noise on my daily commute route. It came with the 5B firmware and was doing great. However, just like APP1 and other forum users have shared, the ANC is worsened by the latest firmware.

What's interesting in China is that there are Apple defenders who would use a frequency response curve graph to "prove" that "no nerfs have been done and it's even better," despite the common sense here. Some would even argue, "You have been using it for a long time, maybe it's the ear tips that have shrunk or degraded." However, mine was only bought two weeks ago, so that doesn't hold true either.
