I’ve been waiting for this model since Gen 1. The older design always moved around requirement adjustments which is annoying. Oddly the pair that I got with AppleCare+ took a few hours longer to move into preparing status. I think there’s a good chance they come in on 10/30, pure speculation.

Mine have customised engraving, my first name and mobile number. They have already moved to preparing to ship, but expected delivery is 7th Nov due to the engraving.

Can't wait. I love the AirPods but they would fall out of my ears sometimes, looks like that won't be an issue with the next gen.

Normally I wouldn't get Apple Care, but I used my first gen AirPods almost 24/7 and burned through their batteries, having them die quite quickly approaching the second year of use. AppleCare would basically get me a brand new set of batteries in these right at their end of life. So basically $39 to ensure my headphones last around 4 years total.
