AirPods Pro- USB C cable with no charging block? Seriously Apple?

What was Apple thinking when they included a USB C Charging cable with the new AirPods Pro, but no charging block? Granted, I have a new USB C Fast Charger, but it came with my iPhone 11 Pro, and I also got a cable, but aside from that, I’m fresh out of charging blocks looking for a loose USB C cable. What a joke.

AirPods have never been supplied with a charger ..... and “what’s in the box” clearly tells you what you get .... why are you so shocked ?

Yah that’s true they never came with block chargers... Including a USB C charger would probably eat into their margins 🤣

Apple is slowly moving to USB-C and has been on the wireless charging bandwagon with its mobile products for a long time now. It would have been more disappointing if they had included a USB-A cable, and considering how many products come with chargers in general it would have been wasteful to add yet another charger with a companion product that supports wireless charging from the getgo.

Most useful thing they could have done was make the port on the case USB-C as well. Otherwise I actually agree with OP that a USB-C to lightning cable is pretty useless as I still need a separate charging block to use it rather than get dual use out of my MBP charger. I hope Apple fully transitions to USB-C happens sometime soon.

Apple likely figures that if you're buying the Pro there is a good chance you have a newer Mac laptop. Which means you need a USB C cable to be able to charge the AirPods via the laptop.

The beauty here is the premium pricing, but still excluding something like a USB-C brick, and then here we get people on the forum defending Apple.

The brainwashing is so good by Apple that they’ve actually convinced their base to defend every cheap and tacky margin benefiting move they make

It’s my first AirPods, I am surprised too, if no adapter, why they even include a cable?

To plug them into your computer? The world is pretty much moving towards USB-C, and all of Apple's computers have had USB-C ports for the last 4-5 years now.

Apple TV includes a charging cable for the remote, but no adapter. Does that also surprise you?

It's been 3 years since Macbook's started to include USB-C. Apple is figuring you'll plug it into that device, or you have a power brick from some other device. I'm glad they include the cable at least!

I don’t have Apple TV, good to know...
But I don’t think that’s the reason, because iPhone comes with adapter, maybe it’s limitation of packaging or costs concern

Been a lot longer than three years. April 2015 was the launch of the MacBook. We are past 4.5 years now.

I don’t recall any of my recent Bose headphones coming with a charge brick !

I’m certainly not Brainwashed and not defending Apple just pointing out that what you buy shouldn’t be a shock if you read what you are buying. At the end of the day you have a choice, if you don’t like what they sell don’t buy them, simple.

Come on... if you use iPhone you have a million Lightening to USB cables so you are set and they know it... if you use Android you already have USB-C charging blocks because that is what they all use...

Apple is helping future proof you as next year the iPhone is likely going USB-C.

For the record, I am not against the concept of USB-C. I am merely pointing out that short of owning a MacBook (which I don’t), many AirPod Pro buyers, myself included, have no use for a USB-C cable without the charging block. USB-C ports are not as ubiquitous yet, as USB ports are. I would understand if they supplied a USB to lightning cable. Everything from cars, to airplanes to coffee shops have USB ports. I have not run across any USB-C ports yet.

That's always the case with new connectors, though. There's a (sometimes lenghty) transition period, and in places you'll continue to see old standards used. Heck, there are still VGA connectors out there, and VGA went out of fashion nine years ago.

Agreed, so maybe during the lengthy transition period, Apple should consider including a charging block with the admittedly not-yet-standard connector.
 
Gonna have some ticked off people with older phoneS and can’t charge them lol. Apple: that will be another $ move along nothing to see here.
 
If they included the old USB A to lightning cable there would be another bunch of people complaining why they can’t charge the AirPods by their MacBook.

Yep - so if in any case there's going to be disappointed people it's better to favor progress in this case.

Umm quite of a lot devices have USB ports ... MacBooks and laptops have them

Which I find weird the Beats solo pro comes with that.
