Hello!

Did someone switch from their 1 gen airpods to the new AirPods pro?

Can you tell me the difference?

Should i buy the Airpods 2 or the Airpods Pro?

I had the first gen but sold them to get the Powerbeats pro. These sound better and fit better imho tho I had no issues with the AirPods. ANC seals the deal imho

I’ve came from 1 to Pro. That aside, I’m genuinely so impressed with the Pros. I also bough the Solo Pros, received on the same day. I have different uses for each so both worth it to me. I have a problem with headphones.

Honestly, if I could own only one pair of headphones, it would be the AirPods Pro. I bought them for ANC but to me, the killer feature is Transparency Mode. It is impossible to explain how it feels. It’s basically like wearing headphones without wearing them.

I use my headphones for calls most of the day, every day. It makess phonecalls feel like you’re talking to someone next to you.

Apple have smashed it with these.

I went to the Apple Store today, tried them on, and hated them right away. The design is VERY different from the original Airpods. Thay are much bigger and the added silicon tip is as stupid as all the other companies that use this type of fitting - and it does not fit comfortably into my ears because it goes much deeper into the canal, and because of the weight, they just don't stay in place. I understand all the great technical and sound improvements Apple put into these Airpods Pro, but the comfort went down the drain. I won't buy this version. I'll continue using the Airpods 1,2 and wait until the designers come to their senses.

I’ve been switching between the Pro and the AirPods 2 all day. Stilling doing it while I’m typing this. The Pro has a wider and more airy sound stage which is a good thing. Perhaps a bit more details in the highs, but I expected better. I’m very picking about sound quality and sound is a very subjective thing to each person.

Apart from that, the active noise cancelling works quite well, and as c14nhl pointed out, the transparency mode works really well. Very natural sounding unlike the Sony’s.

If you often listen in a noisy environment no doubt the Pros will sound better than the regular AirPods. I listen 99% of time inside so I’m after ultimate sound quality.

edit I will say that if you don’t already have AirPods and difference is only $50, go for the Pro. I bought my AirPods 2 with wireless charging case for $150 less than 2 months ago. I suspect they’ll go on sale even more often now. For a $100 difference (more if compared to non wireless AirPods 2 going on sale for $129) I’ll stick with AirPods 2.

I would try them in the store if there is one convenient to you. For me? Much more comfortable and sound is vastly improved. I think that fit is everything. Also, consider the increased water resistance of the Pro if you plan to use them for workouts. This was the main reason I've upgraded although others have had good luck working out with their AirPod2s.

I went from 1st pods to Pros and I'm very happy I did. It's a killer product that I reckon Apple is going to go ballistic with this Chrimbo. They probably aren't the best in regards to sound quality if you compare to the top BT in ears, but the sound quality is a decent 7.5/10 for me. I prefer the fit of the AirPods but that's because they fit me absolutely perfect and didn't have silicone tips. BUT I'd often get my movie or Podcast drowned out by airplane engine noise or train noise, so the noise cancelling is huge. And it works quiet well for in ear headphones. Overall I'd say this is a 9/10. If they came in black and the sound was a little better it'd be the perfect package, but as it stands now, I don't think there is anything on the market to beat these as an overall package.

*If you're an audiophile or are going to do really energetic exercise you may want to check them out first.

Get the pros directly from Apple. If you have issues with them fitting (I don't and love them going from gen 1's to these) you have 14 days to return and get the gen 2's (but I doubt you will want to go back to gen 2's).

I'm in the same boat: gen 1 to pros. I think they can still be useful for phone calls and podcasts in a quiet environment. My girlfriend said I should sell them but what's the market for 14 month old gen 1 used airpods?

On a side-note, very happy I got these. Solid and worthy upgrade in my opinion!

I really liked the Gen 1 - though I am one of those people who they always felt like they were slipping out. (Did get some thin covers that helped a bit.)
Was very excited over the idea of an ear-bud version (that was always my preferred type of "headphones") and got them first day.
Now, I am still having "issues" getting the right "seal" and this is probably effecting the amount of ANC I am noticing (or more accurately not noticing) and the sound. The sound is still better IMHO than the original AirPods but not sure if it would be worth the price for me for just that improvement. But the fit - even using the large buds (again for trying to get the seals "proper") - is very comfortable and never have to keep pressing them because they feel like they are falling out. And for me, that alone is worth the price of admission.
And I already promised my original AirPods to my daughter and don't want to disappoint her that I changed my mind LOL.

Chalk and cheese for mine. Firstly they pair instantly and the OG AP's suck at pairing, particularly if you are swapping devices often. They also have ANC which allows you to hear music at low levels whilst you are out and about. The sound is much more 'pro'. I mean that as an audio professional whom has been producing music for a long time. Firstly they cup your canals so bass doesn't escape and you hear it as opposed to OG AP's. Also their much truer in their low mid range giving a much more even extension to bass. Finally the top end and high mids aren't over exaggerated as they were in the OG AP's. The sound is clearer, classier and more honest. The OG have a throw in and throw out about them which is great whereas the Pros have to 'stick' in your ear making them less easy to throw in and out. But they are a great product and extend a range of truly innovative products (AP's) amongst a bunch of so so's from a great company.

Sounds like the regular Airpods fit your ears well. That's the case for me too, and I find the Pros slightly less comfortable (simply because they are in-ear phones). On the other hand, I really can use the noise cancellation since I often travel on airplanes and work in somewhat noisy office environments. My conclusion is to keep both and use them according to the situation. If you don't need the noise cancellation, I'd actually recommend to stick with the regular Airpods.

Upgraded from Gen 1 AirPods here. Did some back to back listening tests. Honestly, as far as sound quality goes my ears don’t seem to be sensitive enough to detect a difference. At higher volumes they’re so similar. Where the Pros shine is at lower volumes with noise cancelation turned on. Whether or not that makes it worth the price is totally subjective. For me, I’ve had my Gen 1s for a couple years now and I appreciate the better fit, the wireless charging case, “Hey Siri” and the noise cancelation. I imagine if you have a pair of Gen 2s with a wireless charging case, it’s probably not worth the price to upgrade.

I have both.
AirPods Pro has much better Battery Life
AirPods Pro is slightly loudar
AirPods Pro has better Sound Seperation
AirPods Pro has much much much much better Microphone Quality than the Airpods 1 and 2 and earpods.

But, like what you said compared to other Bluetooth Headphones, (such as BOSE) They both sounds much quieter and both AirPods 1/2 and PRO at higher volumes will sounded the SAME compared to BOSE and other expensive Headphones like SONY/JBL.

The only lacking that AirPods Pro has battery. Still Regular Bluetooth buds has much battery life, especially the bluetooth headphones was. Well, that was pretty reasonable for its being cheaper price than bose or sony/jbls as well as having smaller battery.

AirPods Pro has much better Battery Life

I’m noticing faster drain on the AirPods Pros, with or without NC activated.

I’ve just performed a test by leaving the AirPods 1 & Pro’s out of their cases for 30 minutes.

By the end of the 30 minutes, the AirPods 1 had 99% battery, whereas the Pro’s had 96%.

If anyone else could perform this test it’d be much appreciated.

I went from Gen 1 to Pros. the in ear isn't comfortable for me at all. I'm not used to it after 2 weeks. but i'm still trying. I keep changing tips thinking it will change things, but i''ve never done in ear before so it's hard to say. I honestly can't tell the audio quality difference. The microphones seem to pick up way better though and no noise from wind. I haven't had a chance to try them out on a plane or train yet. But i know the Gen 1's were horrible on a plane that i could barely hear anything so i'm looking forward to that changing

I made a video comparing these too. By the way, I actually did an audio test of the two Airpods and found that the orignal airpods actually sounded better! i'll leave the link to the video down here

I switched from AirPods 2 to AirPods Pro and I can tell you the Pro are worlds better than the 2. What you get from the Pro that the 2 doesn't have:
  • Active noise cancellation - can't live without anymore
  • Transparency mode
  • Far better audio - especially in terms of bass
  • Enhanced comfort - with 3 size choices of ear tips
  • Charging case as a standard option
  • More controls
  • Smaller / more discreet form factor
Aside from improving the battery life, I don't see how Apple is going to better the AirPods Pro because they're already pretty much perfect.

Please realize one size doesn’t fit all. I’m not talking about the different sized tips either. Some people have sensitive inner ears and can’t wear in ear phones. Others like myself have no issue. I can wear the Pros all day long with no discomfort. And they don’t fall out.

The product didn’t fall down the drain. Unfortunately the product doesn’t fit your ears.
