I know this is an ancient thread.

It's 2022 and I have this problem too. I found the solution:

Turning off "Low Power Mode" gets Siri back to sounding clear like usual. Nice.

I believe the OP is not talking about AUDIO quality, but the quality of the voice synthesis (sounds robotic). I experienced this when I first got Airpods 3, but I resolved it by forcing the download of higher quality siri voice (for some reason I had to do this again, it's fine on my iphone but not on earpods but after I forced it again it worked on airpods). Do some googling on forcing it to work with airpods, and good luck!
