Have you tried this suggestion?

I also had this same problem with an iBook and fixed it by retyping my wireless network password in the Airport subpane of the Network system preference.

Well i'm not on an Intel Mac. And my network is using WPA instead of WPA2.

AND, everything was erased and then redone when we made the change (we changed keys at the same time). So effectively doing that - and it's never connected since I changed to WPA from WEP.

Still going insane - at least the kids cant' get online in the morning :D

My Mini was perfect. Seems to still be working after this update, too. Although it took about 3 times rebooting to get it to connect properly again. Been stable ever since, though.

The update hasn't fixed the problem for me. 24" C2D iMac. Airport starts off OK, connects and my speeds are fine. However, the speeds quickly tail off to the point where I need to disconnect and reconnect to establish proper speeds again. Repeat til bored.

Back to the wireless bridge for me.

If you install Airport Extreme Update 2007-001 Change to WEP Shared

After install Airport Extreme Update 2007-001 you need to change the method of authentication:

Open the Network control panel and delete the trusted network with the problem.

In the Modem Router Wireless settings change the method of authentication to WEP-Shared or WEP-Compartido (in spanish).

Save the settings and ad a new trusted network in Network Control Panel or connect by your old way.

Xtra tip: With this change some PC's with XP can´t connect to 2Wire modems

Help!

Well, I just installed the Airport update and now my computer won't even start up properly.

When I boot up my MBP (see my sig for details), it gets stuck at the gray startup screen with the Apple logo, and the spinning thing just below the logo. I've tried hard shut downs, as well as removing the battery, and resetting the PRAM. Nothing works! What gives?!?:(

Just installed the N-abler.

The n-equipped iMacs and Mac pros had very poor WiFi reception, and I had hoped that a new driver might resolve that.

Short answer is.
nope.

You and me both... I'm really pissed about the reception of the iMac wireless card. Do I go out and spend £119 on an airport extreme base station? If so why should I? I only want a decent wireless connection to my router... :(

I have search high and low and no-one has come up with a solution... If anything the N-draft should have more signal strength.

At this rate I might have to actually buy a switch.

So Ok... I did go out and spend £119 on the Airport Extreme - and yes it really does work. I get a very consistent 219megabit connection.

I did find a workaround for poor reception with my old 802.11g router. But the workaround is so bizarre that I barely dare describe it, in case you think me nuts.

I did wonder if Extreme was the way to go, it might be worth an upgrade after all.

FIX: Lost wireless signal from update

Right after installing the most recent mac update (this was on Feb 17, 2007) I lost my wireless signal (using a 2WIRE broadband). The solution to this problem was quite simple. I needed to change from a WEP to WPA.

To do so:
1) type home in the address bar of your browser

2) find where to change your wireless settings / system settings (depending on which service you use)

3) change the encryption setting from WEP to WPA and save.

Hope this helps.:p

You never found any way to get it to work with WEP? I ask because I'm having a similar problem at the moment (as detailed in this thread) and would really like to stick with WEP. I had a number of connection difficulties with WPA on this modem/router.

Mostly I just hate 2wire, but until I can move into my own place and get my own broadband, I'm stuck with this piece of crap.

hehehehe at least it means that it all works with apple's products! I've sorted my office out so that I have my server close by so I might go get a gigabit switch and use a wired connection to my server and then nat through to my router... Saves £100 when you're trying to save for a house in the South of the UK...

Prices here are incredible!
