Third party Find My items can also do that, so Tile could hop on that if it wanted to.
Sure but their CEO said they won’t.

And even if they will any Tile you bought today won’t be compatible to it. You’ll need to buy a specific Tile version for that.

No, his point makes perfect sense. If “Find My” isn’t limited to the AirTag, then “Find My” isn’t an advantage for the AirTag relative to any other product that also uses “Find My.”
But the discussion was whether the airtag has an advantage over tile (look at the relevant posts).

The use of the find my network is an advantage over another product that will not be using that network.

If tile decide to join the network then of course this will no longer be an advantage for airtag, but the post I quoted was a direct response to my statement that tile have said that they won’t be doing that.

Here‘s the relevant post, since it has your response and the post to which you were responding. His point makes sense.

Whatever, really not worth the effort, but you really should real all the posts on that conversation and the references to tile, the company who has said that they are not joining the network.

Making the fact that they could totally irrelevant.

Even if Tile joins the Find My network that would only be for new Tile devices that can support it. Existing Tiles will not work with it, so I would not buy a current-model Tile even if the price dropped significantly.

On a non-U1 equipped phone it will be like finding your iPad for example. Check the location on the map, make it ping and follow the sound.
