See video below. Anyone else experiencing this? Unless I'm completely out of it, albums always used to instantly load when you tapped on them from the search results. Now it takes like 6 second any time I click on one. Using a 2020 iPhone SE, so it's definitely not due to older hardware/slower processor! When simply browsing albums, they load instantly when tapped on. Running iOS 14.4 Restarting iPhone and quitting/relaunching Music app makes no difference. Also, these are all local files (I don't use Apple Music), so the Internet connection is irrelevant.

I use Apple Music and see this too, started since 14.4. Still occurs on the 14.5 beta too!

Same. It also happens with playlists. I think it's trying to load the album/playlist located on Apple Music.
Remember they introduced this big album and playlist covers? Those only showed up if you looked for them on AM, but not in your library. So I guess that's why they change it and now it takes some seconds to load a playlist/album

Maybe I'm not following your train of thought here 100%, but like I mentioned, I don't use Apple Music, so I don't know why the Music App would be looking for anything on Apple Music in my case.

Sorry for my English. I'll try to explain it better.

So in a previous iOS version, Apple introduced this animated covers. When they introduced this feature, this would only load if it was on Apple Music (ie. Search On AM > Gigaton), and if you searched for it in your library, it would load as a normal album cover.
This feature was also introduced for playlists, but there was the same bug.

Now, to "fix" this, they changed (I'm guessing) the way it loads albums/playlists added to your library in order to show up those big images, meaning it'll try to load the AM version. If your phone is on airplane mode, this shouldn't happen.

You're right - I just switched to airplane mode and now albums load instantly. Of course, this is not a tenable solution, but at least it unravels the mystery a bit. Now my question is why does Apple not provide an option to disable this so the user experience isn't screwed up for people who don't care about animated album covers and don't even subscribe to Apple Music in the first place?

I’ve tried searching albums in Apple Music as well as albums already downloaded. Everything loads instantly for me, even albums with animated covers.

XS Max on 14.4

Don’t know if it will help but you can try settings - music - animated cover art - off

DANG IT! - that sounded like the ticket, but alas it made no difference. Doesn't make any sense. If the reason for the slow delay is what @LaEnsalada said, then this option should fix it. But it doesn't. 🤬

And this is happening even when on 100Mbps+ down network speeds and close to the router, so it's definitely not a slow network issue on my end.

Oddly enough, it stops happening in AirPlane mode, but the phone is still on Wi-Fi either way... So it doesn't seem to be a network issue! My Apple Feedback is FB9042374 if anyone else files a feedback and wants to cite it.

Even with that deactivated, it load the moving artwork first and then change it to the not-moving one (as you can see in my example). Honestly I don't know what's wrong with apple music because I tried opening an album that is in my iCloud library and it was so slow.

I use iTunes Match and I'm having this issue as well when clicking on albums from search.

Yes!! Same here. If I do it in airplane mode it’s instant, no delays....

Is this fixed in 14.6 beta 3? I'm staying on beta 1 because it was fixed then, but broke again in beta 2.

Edit: Yes, it’s fixed in beta 3!!!

Interesting. I’m using iOS 14.5.1 on iPad and music app loads albums instantly, even for an album that has 30 songs in it. No Apple Music as well.
