to me, it was the best value for its price. nice design, small size, good specs, can run windows if i so choose, plus ive been wanting a mac for a while. im coming from the PC world so ive had some issues with OSX but that's because its just different. not necessarily better, just different.
I have the 2Ghz white model. No mooing, no discolouration and no whining. Its the best computer I've ever had
2ghz black (a replacement for a 2ghz white with a dodgy superdrive) and no problems at all with this, Same here no mooing, no whining, no chipping or whatever people claimed in the first week..... Love it...

I'm ecstatic over my MacBook. It's a fantastic little machine...
The only thing I've not quite gotten used to yet is the "hardness" of the keyboard and trackpad button. My iBook is/was smooth and soft... The keyboard isn't a problem, but I've "dropped" quite a few items prematurely because of the trackpad button...
Probably going to take a bit more than 2 weeks to get 2 1/2 years of iBook use out of the fingertips, right...?
Another issue, not with the MacBook, but rather some really slow developers: Where are the universal flash and flip4mac plug-ins...?!? Now I run Bon Echo (Firefox 2.0) in native mode and Safari through Rosetta to access flash contents...

Yeah this is a problem period, but then it was the same with OS X and the time it took developers to come out with new versions from OS 9....
I purchased a white 1.83 ghz, and just sent it back to Apple, cause it's not quite what I want. It's a great machine, no doubt about that, but I still feel that I need something else in my life right now..
Why it's not right for me:
- the weight
2.36 kg is just too much, I want to be able to carry it around as much as I want. The MacBook has a heavy feel.
- the glossy screen

My MacBook got very hot, even on the left side of the keyboard. No big problem, but I still find it irritating to spend that much money on a 'laptop' too hot to place on my lap.
But of course, even if it doesn't work for me, the MacBook may be great for others. The keyboard, for example, is simply amazing.

I know, it's give n take. I've come to the conclusion that I could do just fine with a light but slow laptop. I can do heavier tasks at work or at home (soon going to invest in a mac mini =). I don't do gaming, so I just need something portable I can use to write and surf. Unfortunately, that rules out Apple notebooks at the moment. At least until this arrives (?):

I am extremely happy with mine. I've experienced no mooing. It whines, but that's never bothered me (either I'm listening to music or working the processor enough). It's quieter than any previous laptop or desktop I've used.
I love the machine, though. I take it everywhere and use it all the time for everything - e-mail, internet, writing, watching movies, music - I have it on at work next to me to do e-mail and chat and at home plugged into the TV playing movies or music.
It's become so ingrained into my life - best $1400 I've spent!

It´s quieter than my Titanium powerbook and not any hotter. I can use it on my bare lap without problems...
the 512 mb RAM are a disgrace though... it struggles with parallels. (rosetta seems to run well enough though), I´m putting 2gigs as soon as I can.
Overall an amazing computer.

total was $1669. details shown in attachment. i absolutely love this thing, worth every penny. it never slows down, its so fast. the performance amazes me. i'll have it do something, then just watch it. then i realize i'm not on my old computer and i can do more than 1 or 2 things at a time. no moos, whines, sizzles, or snap, crackle, and popping. its dead silent, the fans rarely come on. it does get hot, but its not too bad.
its a beauty too, the black is stunning. the screen is fantastic, no glares in sight. i've had no problems with integrated graphics, it plays hd video perfectly.
to sum it up, its amazing. the free nano is nice too.

yay, this is encouraging... its just been problems everywhere on this board (which i know is reasonable and even foreseeable) but that just made it so hard to remember that it's only a small percentage of the computers and not like....30% of them
my biggest concern is the moo since i'm going to be using the notebook to take notes in class and work in the library and i don't want to be "the girl with that computer"

Alas, the Macbook's keyboard is a fair bit noisier than that on the iBook or PowerBook. I was hoping to be able to use my Macbook in lecture theatres too, but it isn't really suitable. Sticking with my terrible handwriting for now. Definitely going to be taking it to uni for general work, though...olivia said:
