Just got one

I just got my macbook yesterday. The only issue I am having is a lack of ram. I only have 512mb, but I ordered ram and it should be here today. I'm sure this thing is going to scream once I have that installed. I have had none of the classic issues...yet. *crossing fingers*

Not a problem with mine No moo, no whine. No discoloration. Definitely needed to throw in more ram right off the bat, but that is given, if you really want to use it to its full potential.
Does it get hot? A little , Did my 12inch G4 1.33 Aluminum Powerbook get hot? Yes. All in all I am satisfied for the money spent. This is the first time I have ever bought a first cycle Mac. Usually I let them work the bugs out but the time and price seemed right so I went for it.

Pros:
- Fast. Amazingly fast.
- Screen is so bright I usually keep it 2 ticks below max because that's actually better for me! And I absolutely love what they've done with the toned-down glossy; great choice. And the resolution is great too. Overall, an amazing job with the screen.
- Keyboard is worlds better than the ibook G4. I don't even see any need for an external anymore.
- Looks fantastic.

Cons:
- I have the whine, but I've used a hack to silence it without costing any battery life, and I'm perfectly happy with that.
- I have the moo, but it's quiet (doubt anyone sitting next to me could hear it), and since upgrading to 10.4.7 I have to get up to about 69 C before it kicks in, which is hot enough that I don't usually reach it.
- As with the G4 ibooks, the white model develops micro-scratches if you look at it wrong. Oh well.

Am I happy overall? Absolutely. Apple did a great job with this one.

Definately not a happy customer here. This is my first mac, and while i am impressed with OSX, the hardware in my opinion still needs work. The plastics are not sealed together properly. I have the 'warping' problem that everyone speaks of, and the screen bezel needs to be clicked back in in a certain spot every hour... I took it to the genius bar and they said that 'the plastics fit differently on each macbook' He checked the display models and a few in the back of the store...low and behold, they all have a warping problem! On top of that, I have the whine, the moo, and i got 2 kernal panics in one afternoon, both right after i unplugged my speakers or headphones. The thing is being returned asap and i am buying a macbook pro instead. Buyers be warned.

WOW!

you tell go back there and you go give that Genius a hardy bitch slap to the face. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Tell him the meaning of MASS PRODUCTION. If he doesnt take your macbook back and exchange it for a new one, you kick him in the crotch for being a jerk, or of course you talk to a manager. But man, if a genius or any apple employee for that matter, told me something like that, I would be furious....

Would you mind snapping a few pictures of the warped plastic though? I hear alot of people say it, but I never seen it. My MacBook is fine despite its high temperatures.

After about 6 days of use, I'd rate it 8/10. A bit warm on the bottom. No mooing or whining. Though I love the visual look of the keyboard, I do find I have to tap the keys harder to register the character. Still haven't got the license on the trackpad, half of the time I overshoot or undershoot my target.

Love the speed. Not a gamer, so normal graphics task is very responsive to me. I did bruise my fingertip in getting those 2 GB sticks secure in the memory slot.
