13 mini rebooted last night during charging and missed my alarm this morning. No panic log in analytics or anything else interesting.

CRAZY: I thought I was imagining things. I saw it just shut down with my own two eyes.

Since upgrading my iPhone 13 from iOS 16.7.1 to iOS 17.1 it has asked me twice to reenter my passcode. I never had that happen with iOS 16. And i'm not so sure these phones are rebooting, hence asking for the passcode.

Last night I had my iPhone next to my Mac keyboard and it was somewhat dark. So I picked up the iPhone and it asked for my Passcode. I tried turning off the screen and waking up the phone and each time it asked for my Passcode. So I thought, well maybe Face ID doesn't see my mug so I turned on the lights and it still asked for my Passcode.

What was interesting and why I question if the phone rebooted at all was that it was sitting next to my keyboard in low light conditions. If it had rebooted, I surely would have seen the Apple Logo appear but no, that never happened.

It's too late now to switch back to iOS 16 as it's no longer signed.

You can check if you go to your battery page. If it has a missing chunk then it was off during that period.

That's not correct. The phone isn't off the entire time the battery info is missing. It just means the phone reboot at the start where the chunk was missing. The battery info will be missing until the phone is unlocked.

That makes sense but what doesn't make sense to me is that I had my iPhone sitting to the left of my Mac keyboard and I was basically in a mostly dark room with the exception of the monitor being on. I surely would have noticed if my iPhone had rebooted because I would have seen the white :apple: Logo flash on the screen. That never happened and that got me thinking well, maybe it's too dark for Face ID to recognize my face. That's when I turned on the lights and knew something was up when it still wanted my Passcode.

It's worth a try and I don't know if this will help but I changed my iPhone Passcode. But I can definitely say, this was NEVER an issue with iOS 16. My iPad's running iOS 17 have also asked randomly to renter my Passcode. Strange!

I know is a meme that if you want to get an answer immediately you need to post something mistaken first. So thank you for the confirmation that the iPhone does indeed reboot? That was the mini discussion actually about lmao.

This whole thing with iOS 17 is so freakin weird because it happened again while using my iPhone 13. I was in the App Store, downloading an App to try out and the screen timed out and turned off. I immediately went to turn the screen back on and it asked me to reenter my Passcode for Face ID. There was no reboot because this happened within 15 seconds when the screen turned off and I had the phone in my hand. This never was a problem with iOS 16.

My iPhone 15 PM did this for the first time last night at midnight, it was on an Anker Cube charger, I had to put in my passcode just now and also the phone wifi was switched off. I thought at first it was because it had updated the iOS but it hadn't so I just put the latest update on manually. Because the wifi was off, I am now wondering if any more settings had changed, I probably need to check. I had hoped it had been resolved by now as I had read earlier posts about it but obviously not.

I don't know if this is the same issue, but iPhone 15 did a random early Saturday morning. After some research it looks like it had what Apple calls a panic attack. Anyone else experience this or know more about it?
