I've had so many problems between Verizon and my Note 3 that I'm just abandoning Samsung gear entirely. Way too much finger pointing between the two and I'm now sitting with a Note 3 that drops calls 3-5X per day.

Ok, I left Apple for a bigger screen but don't see a good reason other than iphone's screen is easier to see in bright sunlight. What else? specs seem to favor the note

I read both iPhone 6 Plus and Note 4 have brightness of 500 units...

The Galaxy Note 4 massacures every cell phone. However the iPhone 6 Plus does meet the note 4 halfway. The iPhone 6 plus may not have QHD display but it does have 1080p on a 5.5" screen. I'm curious to see what the Apple A8 CPU is clocked at, how much RAM and mAh capacity.

I read the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are clocked at 2.0GHz.... not sure if it's true but I read that somewhere yesterday.

Currently have a Note3 and had a Note2 before it. Two things that are making me want to get the large iPhone are camera and reception quality. The Note3 camera has been awful for me, without perfect lighting, I get grainy and blurry images, and reception is not as good as it was with my old 4S.

1. Anyone have any idea if the Note4 may have really made camera improvements? Is it just using the S5 camera? If so anyone know the quality?

2. Is there some spec to look at to determine which phone will have better reception?

Thanks.

I read at a glance from pcadvisor that the same camera is being used on the Note 4 as on the S5. As for reception you would probably want to check out reviews or test it yourself.

camera should be a good improvement with OIS added along with other features such as selfie option if you like that. Gone from 13 to 16MP.

You can get ATT Iphone 5 replacement phone (no contract) for $249 and get Note 4 with contract. Keep switching between them. Best of both the worlds.

I like the Note 4 but design wise, like all Samsung devices, it is massively behind the iPhone. The cheap plastic back is horrible. Yes it allows a removable battery but it cheapens the phone. I owned all Notes before it and never used the s pen. I find the s pen more of a gimmick than the side screen on the new note edge which many people seem to think is a gimmick.

I too am looking at the Note 4 to buy but one tging that annoys me with Samsung is their pricing. I bet the Note 4 will come in more expensive than the iphone 6. It should never be more expensive and it is this reason which will probably prevent a day 1 purchase. However within 2 months devices like the Note and S5 drop like a brick in price.

Im looking at the Note 4 and Note Edge but Samsung thinking they are Apple with their pricing does annoy me.

I like the Note 3 backing, it doesn't feel like plastic, it also doesn't flex and feels solid. I'm not saying you, but it always makes me laugh when people go all out to buy an aluminum backed phone and the first thing they do is put a plastic case on it. With the N3/N4 no case is needed so I can keep it nice and thin.

S pen is far from a gimmick, I find it invaluable in my daily use both business and personal. The new versions of Microsoft OneNote on Android are pretty amazing, it's an incredible note taking experience when paired with a stylus equipped phablet. Why we ignore a tool mankind has used for thousands of years is beyond me.

You are right about pricing, non apple phones never retain their value. I do think the Note series is WELL worth its price next to an iPhone because of its increased functionality. But in terms of resale value, it is what it is. Even the metal premium phones like the HTC's of the world have the same terrible resale value so I don't think it's a question of putting out a higher quality item. I'd put my Note 3 next to a iPhone 5s ANY day of the week in terms of build quality and solidness.

The note Backing looks and feels good not sure how it can be seen as as cheap. Design wise I think the note 4 is spot on.

I loved the backing on the Note 3.

It made a large device feel smaller as the grip was superior to most larger phones out there.

I will say the OPO sandstone black though has supplanted it as my favorite on a bigger device as of now.

It's annoying that samsung devices start out expensive but more annoying that iPhones start out and stay expensive for 12 months.
I'm going to do the sensible thing and wait a few months before considering the Note 4...

It's not annoying to me because I think it's worth every penny. Apple Annoy me more because I don't think their devices are worth the price when you compare them to other devices IMO. Obviously it all comes down to what works best for you. For me Samsung galaxy devices are totally worth the price. I don't really care how much value a device holds because at the time I buy it I intend to keep it. If I decide to sell it that is because I have found a superior device that suits my needs better and therefore it should demand a higher price.

As for build quality, I've always been a substance over style person. I'm more interested in what the device can do and not how it looks. I don't have a problem with the build quality of Samsung devices. They are well made and are durable. I'd rather have a plastic back and have a removable battery than have a sealed aluminium back. Also it adds to the customisability as you can take off the back and add any one you want, including a metal one. I had the iPhone 5S and whilst it looked nice, after a while the looks wore off and then there was nothing left. Also I'm not sure I like the feel of it in my hand, I think it's the squared off corners. After a while it got uncomfortable. The s4, note 3 and S5 feel very comfortable in the hand. People may complain about the S5, band aid whatever but it's one of the most comfortable devices I've ever held.
