Will they finally disable the deranged Automatic Gain Control that crushes voices into mush? And no, I’m not talking about iOS Voice Isolation. I mean the AGC baked into the AirPoos themselves. Brush one against your hair or beard during a FaceTime call and ask the other person if they can still understand you. Apple seems to prioritize silence over intelligibility, which is absurd.
For the record, Bluetooth Classic supports around 64kbps for two-way audio. Not amazing, but it's in line with typical VoIP bandwidth. It shouldn't sound that bad. Apple doesn’t even use mSBC with AirPods. They use AAC-ELD, a proprietary codec that’s capable of much higher fidelity. So the codec isn’t the reason AirPoos sound like trash on calls.
Bluetooth LE Audio supports TMAP and GMAP with higher bitrates using LC3. Did they finally enable that? Or are they keeping it an AirPoos exclusive, continuing their tradition of kneecaping third-party headsets?
And for the love of Jobs, let us use the onboard iPhone mic during a call while using AirPoos as headphones. Apparently, this "feature" is coming to iPadOS, but it's unclear if they're going to bless iOS with it. Maybe they'll have enough courage by iOS 28!
