And I even started one myself.

I really wan't to know if there are anyone out there who can swear that their new MBA (13") doesn't creak AT ALL? I mean some ppl says that their MBA dosen't say anything at all! Is that really true? Or is it just because you (owners of non-creaking MBA) don't notice or is it because you don't think it is a problem?

I would also like to hear if any of you have made the creaking go away (for good) by tighten the buttomplate?

I'm waiting for my 2 replacement...

About this.... I read all the threads before getting my MBA, and when I first opened the screen I heard some noise. But it was not from the aluminium it was from the plastic around the hinge, that makes some sound when moving the air with the lid open and so on. So it's not the aluminium body itself making the sound.

Mine does not creak (or wobble) at all. Something like that would drive me crazy so I'm sure mine does not do it.

I think some degree of creaking is normal, particularly if you hold the device cantilever-style (like in the commercials), or from the palmrest area. It isn't anything that bothers me, and I notice it only when I apply a lot of force to that area. Normal use or typing on a desk does not cause any creaking noise.

squirt some wd40 on the hinges ... :D

:D It isn't coming from the hinges. The "creaking" I notice is from the metal in the palm rest. Again, it is only when I apply a lot of pressure to it, so I think it's normal.

When did you get yours?

i am wondering if starting another thread, but one that is clear and concise and requests that members put when they purchased it, whether it was online or instore, and what week was the laptop manufactured (if there is a way of doing this like there iswith the iphone)

Mine does make some noises when I walk around with it, lid open. I think it comes from that plastic "axis" that holds the screen up.

When using it over a table or my lap, I still haven't noticed noises.

To clarify, if I hold it like in the commercial, with the clamshell closed, there is no creaking. I've just noticed it occasionally while typing when it's on my lap, and when I have unconsciously applied a lot of pressure to the palmrests. If I try to make it creak, I usually can't.

Haven't heard any creaking yet on my 11.6 base model. Also so far seems steady on a flat surface... hope these aren't things that can change over time.

I've had mine 3 weeks. It creaks only if I pick it up when open with one hand. On the front corners mostly but sometimes the sides. Never when typing. I'm sure they would all creak with enough encouragement.

I have tried everything in this thread and I have no creaks. I have a 13" "Ultimate" purchased at a Apple store about a month ago.

I've owned a...
11.6" MBA
13" MBA
Another 11.6" MBA

None of the three of them have had ANY creaking. Completely flat.

The only problem I've had was on the 13" MBA. The bottom of the screen was dark, looked like a drop shadow.

What is this creaking I hear about? Are you guys picking it up and trying to bend it? I mean that's the only way mine "creaks." Don't all laptops do that anyway? It's a thin aluminum shell full of circuitry. I don't see why it wouldn't make such noise if you try to bend it. I guess I just don't see why this is such a hotly talked about topic.

its weird, I wouldn't call it a creak, cause thats not the right description of the sound, its just a light noise that sounds like the aluminum is settling or something, its not a persistent creak in the same spot, thats what most people are reporting

Yeah, this is aluminum parts bolted together, not a solid wedge of metal. I just don't see why it wouldn't make a noise when enough pressure is applied. I think most of the problem is in people's heads now. Once someone tells about a type of noise, you're going to be focusing on trying to hear it.
