I run latest versions of everything except for Spark on my iPhone - because I hardly ever do email on my iPhone.
For the sake of testing I started it today, only to find out I was indeed on a previous beta.

@Readdlemate, I checked the new update of Spark - badge icon now works without the background app refresh, though it was slow notifying the badge app icon for new email. I will test for longer time to see how it performs.
For me the latest version from the App Store 1.6.1 doesn't indicate the badge app (with or without background app refresh) icon on my iPhone or iPad with iOS9.3.1 but does show it with the latest beta version. The badge app icon is showing correctly on my iPhone 5s but still shows the number of e-mail from the conversation so it seems instead of the latest e-mail although it has been set exactly the same as my iPhone where it e.g. shows '1' with one new e-mail. On my iPad I'm then seeing '12' and only see this one e-mail from a conversation although the settings in the Spark beta are set to 'new e-mails only'.
Done, because at this moment I can't seem to get rid of a badge showing 1 - with No New Mail...
What do you mean by: "number of e-mail from the conversation". Is it not same as the number of new emails?

Have you've selected "Unread Messages Only" option in Settings > Badges?[doublepost=1460475810][/doublepost]
Currently if you receive a new email in the thread this email counts in badge number.

I saw that! I was actually looking for an iPad specific app rather than the universal update that was released. However, I was pleased that it was a universal version so I would have to pay for Airmail again. Honestly, I was prepared to pay for it as I have it on my iPhone and iMac as well. I love it and it is my email app of choice because it includes almost all of the features I want in an email program. It would have been nice to have a "built in browser" like the Cloud Magic app I just deleted. But overall Airmail is just what I wanted with CloudMagic coming in a close second. I did have Cloud Magic, still, on my iPad while I was waiting for an Airmail release.
It's a great update and good to see it's an Universal app (after all) and includes a lot of great features now: TouchID security, Slide Over/Split View on iPad, iCloud sync, schedule e-mail, read receipt, sketch/draw. I've updated the comparison sheet also and Airmail has a lot to offer.
My last wishes for Airmail:
1) badge app icon still buggy (same with Spark, although recent beta is a lot better)
2) option to show attachments above message (icons only not full file) (like Outlook has)
3) multi attach files from cloud storage (like Spark has)
4) calendar within the app
5) save attachments to the cloud with built-in feature (so instead of using iOS Share sheet)
6) quick reply
Spark is also Universal and has built in browser. It does have less features then Airmail though but a lot more then CloudMagic. I do love the UI of CloudMagic though.

I agree about the user interface of CloudMagic. If I wasn't in need of a full featured email app it would have been my only choice. I read a lot about Spark and it was on my radar (of email apps to check out). Not sure what you meant about the addition of "one tap reply". I only tap once when replying.
Correction: I just discovered Airmail's in app browser (in settings). Woo Hoo! So now I can say that Airmail offers everything I want in an email application. Even though I didn't have to pay for the universal Airmail update I wouldn't have hesitated, or even blinked an eye, to pay for an iPad specific version if I had to. Since I didn't, though, I'm such a happy camper!

Does somebody know how you can turn off in Airmail that you see the complete document but that you do download it. I only want to see a file icon/name.
@Readdlemate, Few observations after using the Spark app for about a week: Badge app icon still doesn't update properly. I keep Background app refresh off but the app is open in the multitasker. When I receive a new email I have to open the app and it shows the new email but no badge icon, so close the app and open again and close and then it shows badge icon but that too after a while.
I tested both the Spark and Outlook with background refresh off and apps open in mulltitasker, Outlook shows the badge icon almost immediately while Spark needs to open-close couple of time to update

To be clear, I mean editing the subject line on the email I received - not changing it for replies, forwards, etc. If I receive emails with long or unclear subjects ("Your order") I want to be able to edit them to something more meaningful.
You can do it in the desktop version of Outlook, and there's a clumsy workaround way to do it in the OS X Mail app. But I've not seen any app, including the stock app, that lets you do it in iOS.

The current app in the App Store from Spark does indeed still have the badge icon problems. I'm running a beta version of Spark which does show the badge app icon correctly (or at least on my iPhone 5s running iOS9.3.1 an incorrect number shows on my iPad mini2 running iOS9.3.1 with same beta app). But you still need to use background app refresh for Spark to show the badge in the current beta in order to work.
Outlook has a totally different way of handling your e-mails then e.g. Airmail or Spark. With Outlook all your credentials are shared with Outlook and your e-mails are definitely stored on third party servers. Although in some cases (depends if you use push with Airmail/Spark or not) Spark and Airmail also store your e-mails on third party servers (in Spark's case it's Amazon AWS). I have background refresh on for Spark and, at the moment, I still can't use it as a replacement for the Apple Mail app. I like the Spark interface and considered keeping both apps; using Apple Mail for all notifications and then opening Spark to read/reply/whatever but in the end simply went back to Apple Mail.
Each time Spark receives an update I'll give it another go. At some point I assume it'll work perfectly. I can wait

When I turn the phone on in the morning, it'll do a Fetch and notify me of any new mails. If I read and/or delete an email on another device, the Fetch cycle will (within 15 minutes) update my iPhone. Same if I happen to lose signal for a while e.g. in a shop. Within 15 minutes, it'll pick up the new email that it missed at the time.

Admittedly this means Spark have my username/password and are polling for new emails on my behalf but I'm OK with that security risk. However, despite having background refresh on, Spark never updates (badge or notifications) when the phone is first turned on, if it loses signal for any length of time and a new email coincidentally comes in during that time, or if I read/delete an email on another device. In other words, the only time Spark will notify me of new emails is if I have data access at the time the email comes in, and will not realise the mail has gone or been read unless I do that within Spark itself.

Does the Outlook/Spark app notifies the user that their credentials will be stored on third-party servers and ask for the permission. Cloudmagic notifies that it stores emails on their servers and that was one of the reasons I chose Outlook and Spark.
Your email thread is very helpful, I suggest you move it to iOS Apps section instead of ios 8 to be more visible... Mods would be able to do that.

Hmmmm.... I am sitting in front of Outlook 2003 (on my work PC) and I am unable to change the title of a received email. Is this a setting? While this may not be possible on iOS, your best bet is to create smart filters or use a smart filter service to parse your emails so you know everything in a folder is an "order".
