It's an interesting choice, if true. I have to say (and I've voted accordingly) that I would probably go with standard aluminium though of course, seeing one 'in the flesh' may well change my mind. :)

I don't own an MBA at present - I hope to once the refresh kicks in - but I think the current look is pretty good.

Rumors of an anodized black Air are swirling (I won't post the link due to it being a MR competitor and I don't quite know what the etiquette is for something like that, just google). So, what would you choose? Why?

P.S. I know we haven't seen it in full form, and thus is difficult to say. Use your imagination!

You can post links to other sites. It's fine. This isn't the third reich.

Also, this is being fully discussed in the news thread on it.

I'd have to see it in person first. Or at least an Apple press shot.

Black sounds cool, but I do like the aluminium look. Plus then it will match my MBP.

Anodized black wouldn't be my thing. I never cared for the BlackBook either.

Anodized white (is that even possible?): Might be nice.

But I think the current plain brushed aluminium is absolutely perfect. Although I'd prefer the keys to be white, especially if they're not going to be backlit.

Would scratches show up easily on the black? I don't know.

I'm voting aluminum right now, but this is sort of an unfair and bias poll; we haven't seen the black in person yet, if it's real. ; )

And I read it may only be for the highest end Air, so for us that aren't maxing out, we may not even have the choice.

I think they would look great. It would be an interesting departure from the standard aluminium. Might be being offered as a means to soften the blow when the White MacBook gets the boot.

I think it would be interesting to see a small selection of colors similar to the current Nano.

I'll buy the refreshed one anyway, but if found in anodized black I would die. It would be perfect, and it would save me the purchase of the iCarbons skin, so it would be great.

Apple already saved me the money for the iWork suite with the B2S promo, but if this was added to the mix it would be perfect.

I voted "not sure". First of all, I'd really want to see how it looks in person before "committing" to a choice (for as much of a commitment as an informal poll on MacRumors is, anyway). Second, it remains to be seen the details of this choice. I also want to know if there's an additional cost to it. If it's included in the cost of the Ultimate model, then I'd be tempted. At $100, I might think about it, and if it were more than $100, there's no way I'd do it.

But, I really like the way the current one looks, so I might just go with the Standard Alum. anyway.

As someone who has never owned a MacBook Air or any other aluminum Apple laptop, I was looking forward to picking up a refreshed MBA for that classic Apple look... especially since my current laptop is mostly black (inclusive of its carbon fiber lid)

But, if the new MBA looked good in anodized black, then I'd consider it.

Black can't be good for ensuring that it runs silent and cool. I choose Airstream-aluminum (that means 'silver', for those that don't know).
