am using my iPhone 6 Plus. Stand by 24 hours. Active 5 hours. I still have 30 percent ..

Any tech folks here care to share how they did it? Am talking about normal mode .. NOT Low battery mode.
 
I see. Hope there are developers here to shed some light. U know I went to bed and wake up. The percent remains the same !!!
 
On battery tap the clock icon and add up the actual screen on time... turns out battery life is pretty poor really.

What you mean ? I had standby of 24 hours ! 5 hours of use. 30% left

Open the Battery tab, and to the right of the "Last 24 hours" and "Last X Days" click the little clock icon.

You can now see how much screen time each app used - add it up, this is your real usage time. 5 hours "usage" includes background stuff when the screen isn't even on
 
Mine, when u add up screen time is actually more than what is reported as "Usage"

68% left
Usage is 3h 51m
Adding up screen time is 5.4 hours
 
reduce junk overhead in the os, sw communicates with hw much more closely, things are done faster & more efficient as a result.

I don't know how trustworthy that actually is, it will say I've used some apps for only a couple minutes that I was actually using for around 30 minutes. The usage number should be accurate for screen time as long as you weren't listening to audio with the device locked, using that you can achieve usage times of 30+ hours.

The times are from the last 24 hours (or up to 7 days), they don't line up with the last time the phone was fully charged. So no direct comparisons could really be made given two different starting points (unless the last time you fully charged happens to be exactly 24 hours ago at that moment).

Aside from the timing being different, if the phone was doing something in the background then it was using up resources, right, so why wouldn't we want to know about that time (given that it wasn't just idle not doing anything).
 
You're obviously looking at the wrong thing


"Obviously" there is no correlation since they are different time periods. Duh.

Standby 24 and usage 5 with 30% remaining doesn't sound all that amazing for a 6+ even on iOS8. Those things will standby all week long with very little drainage. It's best to get as much usage time as you can, quickly and with very little standby time if you really want to check your battery longevity. I used to regularly get 9 hours of intensive usage from my 6+ and so with iOS9 I would have hoped to get an extra hour.
 
They just simply slowed our phones down.

our? little quick to (generically) judge? thats why every ios device in this house is fluid & fine..maybe just urs, ur neighbor's, their cat's, & about 5000 others out there, out of a user base of millions & millions
 
They killed the discoveryd which caused all of the wifi issues on iOS 8 which ran all the time. They also optimized the overall OS, which makes a big difference. Something that is heavily overlooked in my opinion
 
To be honest there is a slight lag now .. That's y I am so keen to find out if anyone knows what they did ..

Btw I found out that Facebook. Usage 32 min on screen. 1.5 hours background. This is weird considering I have back ground refresh off :(

An app running in the background is not really related to background refresh.

Snapchat does the same thing. Thats cause a few apps aren't optimized for iOS 9. Its smart to just kill the app any time you're not using it or it'll drain your battery in the background.
 
An app running in the background is not really related to background refresh.
So it's logging the time that a app remains in background until the need for RAM purges it? I think that's just going to be confusing for a lot of people, maybe if it actually included a separate percentage of battery used while a app is backgrounded which should be small with only location service and background app refresh bringing the possibly of it being larger. I also wish they had included a option to only show battery percentage used over the course of a full 100% charge, that would cause less people worrying about a app being listed as using 60% over 24 hours not realizing that's because they didn't use their phone much that day other than that particular app, the number only correctly correlates to actual battery percentage used if you start with 100% at the start of a 24 hour cycle.

No, it's not the time that it is in memory, but actual time it is doing something in the background. Normally apps are limited to do that for a few minutes, and background refresh can allow them to do that for a few minutes at different times, but then there are also features of some apps (like those with navigation capabilities, VoIP capabilities, and some others) to run in the background for longer periods of time than a typical app.

same here , background app refresh is off but facebook is in the background is a lot of mins.
 
Apps are allowed to run in background for certain period of time, usually 10 minutes. If you checked Facebook for a minute a X of times, you've permitted FB to run X*10 minutes, easily reaching 1,5h of background activity.
