If you packed it as described, you're being scammed. It's happened to me, and probably many other people. Nothing you can do about it, EBay is on the side of the buyer. What you are describing is the top reason I haven't sold on EBay in over 4 years. Get it back, sell it f2f using Craigslist.

As others have stated. I stopped using eBay years ago. It's full of scammers looking to rip you off. eBay almost always sides with the buyer. It's a wonder how they are still in business. Avoid them at all cost.

It's Unfortunate. I used to use eBay all the time and it made me a lot of money over the years. The only things I sell on eBay now are low dollar items that have little chance of being subjected to fraud. I Refuse to sell my electronics on eBay and ultimately, it's the veteran scammers that are taking advantage of honest people and the only way these honest people will learn, is either through good advice not to use eBay or take the risk of being victimized.

I wouldn't use eBay or gumtree. eBay because I could be scammed after I've sent the device out. I've heard so many cases of people sending out working devices only to be told that the device is t working when received by the seller or that the seller breaks it and tries to return it. eBay tend to side with the buyer.

Gumtree because I'd be scared of getting robbed if I had to meet the buyer in person.

I tend to use trade in shops on the high street like cex or Carphone warehouse. Although you get less money than you could get if you sold privately, there is no hassle at all.

Sometimes that's the best way to go is when you trade in a device or sell it locally where you might take a price cut. To me, it's not worth the hassle of dealing with individuals online who want to cause a disruption and take advantage of the system.

If The seller chooses to sell online and they take the risk of knowingly what could happen, my best advice would be to be as thorough as possible with pictures, your description, and research the buyer of who you are selling it to.

There is no guarantee that someone can safeguard themself from fraud, but someone can take the proactive steps and be cautious as possible with selling with the right measures.
