No question in my mind that the differing opinions regarding ANC originate with poor fit. I experienced this myself on a flight I did last night. Plane took off, I enabled ANC, and was ... underwhelmed. Removed some of the noise, but it seemed quite underwhelming. About 5 minutes later, for no particular reason, I adjusted the angle of the APP in my ears, and whoa, the change was massive! The volume engine roar just disappeared. Prior to my adjustment, they seemed to fit fine in my ears. But clearly they weren’t quite right. It was very surprising to me.
