My daughter has one. She has a line of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen, but she doesn't have enough money to upgrade to a new one. That might be her Christmas present.

I don't understand why you think you would be the only one? I have all three versions and use them all everyday.

The 3GS has a real iPhone sim and the 2G/3G use a GoPhone sim. I switch it between the two depending on my moods.

How does your mood determine which iPhone you use?

I use a first gen. Bought it second hand at the beginning of the year. Had to find a 2G because I knew I'd be moving abroad and the 2G's so much easier to keep unlocked :)

I'll keep using it until it falls apart, which given that the build quality is so much better, could take a while. ;) Plus part of me likes having an iPhone that doesn't look like every other one you see on the street.

still rockin mine. I dropped the att data plan and use a verizon mifi for data, so mine does have 3G!!!!! in fact much faster than att 3g

You are missing out buddy! I still have my 1G but I use it now only for testing. The difference between the 3Gs (black) and the 1G is humongous. From speaker volume to...well, everything is exponentially better. :p

Not everything exponentially better - I do pay $15 less per month for my phone service - albeit EDGE, but also 200 texts.

That's kind of what I do when I use my 2G away from home. I have a Sprint broadband card that I connect to my MBP, then share it's connection with my 2G. Faster than AT&T 3G speeds on a 2G iPhone.

Being able to share the broadbands 3G on my MBP is the biggest reason I got my MBP last month. I couldn't get that to work on an HP with that card.

Nope, my first iPhone is a 3gs, and I love it. Although the first iphone felt really solid, it was way too expensive back then for all the features it was lacking. I would never pay 600 USD for a phone that didn't have 3G.

Well gee, there was no such thing as 3G when it first came out. I wouldn't pay 600.00 for any phone.

I'm pretty sure you aren't. Lol
I, however had to upgrade once the 3GS became available.
Brought my first gen. iPhone September 2007 and it laid to rest June 19th 2009 at around 8am :D

Well lots of people didn't mind. I bought my first 2G on July 6th, a week after the official release. When the 16GB 2G came out in February, I bought one of those on day one. Then I went back for two more just to have them a few months later.

I eventually sold them all on eBay for about $500 each. I regretted that so last summer, I bought one on Craigslist for $150 still with Apple care. I love using it and I have a GoPhone sim in it. I just can't stand it sitting there being only an iPod touch.

Do you mean no 3G in America?

Because I owned a 3G phone when the iPhone was released :p Actually that was another reason I went with the original iPhone, I hated 3G like nothing on earth; I had a lot of problems with dropped calls.

Mine is still kicking, but is living with my best friend in Thailand at the moment (I'm rocking the 3G). I'd like it back to have as a backup phone, but I'm not going to get rid of it or sell it at any point.

still using mine. But the wifi hasn't worked since 3.0. There are numerous posts about this and it sucks. It's unlocked and when i travel i can't even use the wifi.

I bought it legit from ATT and used it for 2 years there. and then i left the US. it sucks that i can't even get it fixed as it has to be serviced in the country of purchase. arghhhh

haven't found many on macrumors and i find searching on this site really awkward. Google iphone 2G wifi not working and there are thousands of things. Many people have had luck sticking it in a freezer.

I'm still using the 2G. I got it in 2008. My 1st and only iPhone.
I like the way it looks and feels better than the newer ones, not that its a huge difference.
I don't know what I'm missing with 3G since i'm on T-Mobile Edge unless i'm in a wifi zone.
Not having 3G doesn't bother me too much...until the day comes when I try a 3G I guess.

Joe

I still have the original as well. I bought mine right after the price drop. $427.36 including tax! I love the aluminum and after jailbreaking and adding MMS & Cycorder as well as unlocking for T-Mobile and saving $40/month it really is the perfect phone. :) Battery life is AMAZING!
