Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just watched the release video and was only half paying attention the first go around. I at first thought that they were making the Magic Keyboard Folio for the pro as well as the regular iPad, but on a second watch and a review of the Apple Store website, that is clearly not the case.

Am I the only one that is wanting this? I love the Magic Keyboard, but would kill to be able to use the iPad flat without having to completely remove it from the case.

Yes I think I would buy this if it was offered for the pros. Function keys, and the possibility to remove the keyboard when you don't need it to have a normal iPad. Kickstand is maybe not as pretty as the Magic Keyboard design, but it is much more flexible.

Apple must update its Magic Keyboard, at the very least add the function keys

Take a look at the Logitech Combo Touch, which is obviously where Apple got the design for the "new" Magic Keyboard Folio...

No because this keyboard doesn’t have a charging port. But Apple does need to bring function keys to the Magic Keyboard.

ah, yeah I can definitely see the appeal for that. Basically gives you a free charging port so that you can use the other USB for other activities.

This is the case of my dreams for the iPad Pro. I tried the Magic Keyboard but ditched it in favor of the Logitech because I like to keep my iPad in a case which separates from the keyboard. AND I LOVE THE KICKSTAND. It’s so nice being able to set my iPad up on the counter when I’m washing dishes or folding laundry and not have a big honkin’ keyboard getting in the way.

This new folio is definitely in the vein of the Logitech. But hopefully it is of higher quality and design. We’ll have to try it out and see.

They'll likely update the Magic Keyboard when they do the real update to the Pros, which will also add more pins to the Smart Connector enabling data + power through the port. So early 2024, most likely.

I would love one. Apple has just gotten so lazy they just keep regurgitating the same products over and over again.

I have both the Magic Keyboard and the Logitech Combo Touch but I would love this, lighter than either and above all magnetic (I hate that the combo touch cannot easily be detached like the magic keyboard)
PS I just read it's not backlit, so that could be a deal breaker for me...

Another one for the Logitech Combo Touch. Not only is it easy to detach the keyboard, but the iPad is still in its protective case, and the function keys are great. I've had mine for a year+ and it's been great. The best part is the highly durable material. None of the edge wearing or scuffing issues experienced with the SKF or MK, both of which I've owned.

It's a real tossup:

+
Lighter
Function keys
Larger trackpad
Detachable/flippable keyboard

-
No backlighting
Hard to use of your lap
No charging port

Personally I think they should offer both but they are stuck with the smart connector being in different places. It will be interesting to see where Apple goes with the Pros next. I expect we'll see a the landscape camera and OLED screen for both sizes but move the smart connector and everyones accessories will no longer be compatible.

Yeah I use headphones with a DAC that plug into the USB-C port. It really eats up the battery so I always have my iPad plugged into power via the port on the keyboard.

I would absolutely want this for the pros. However I don't think it will happen or at the very least for it to happen Apple would have to put pin connectors in two places and I don't think they will. But I do think it is the better keyboard option.

I’m good with the Magic Keyboard. I like how easily you can just take it off when you want to be on the couch or in bed with just your iPad.

Also no backlighting is a deal breaker and you can’t use the folio as easily on your lap anymore which isn’t a dealbreaker but a negative for sure. I would also miss the extra port for charging

I know I’ll be in the minority with this, but I find the lack of function keys to be a total non issue.

I would prefer a larger trackpad, and definitely backlit keys. Function row is nice, but not a necessity.

I actually never thought a keyboard would be useful for what I do on the iPad, but using it with Stage Manager makes me think I can do more work on it. Really like this feature so far.

OP, I also wish they made a MKF. I would most likely buy it. As it stands, I currently use the SKF as I prefer its lighter weight and flexibility compared to the Magic Keyboard Case. A trackpad, backlit keys and function row would be welcomed.

I bought and returned the Logitech keyboard case. The kickstand and extended keyboard just took up too much space on my desk and felt less stable overall compared to the smart/ Magic Keyboard.

I can see the allure. It’s just not for me.

Make it 250 euros for 12.9 at most and I will be interested.
Otherwise it will be yet another overpriced device accessory money grab by Apple.

There might be new keyboards for iPad Pro next year when there might be redesign and new pin location incoming.

Nope, it seems to have larger footprint than iPP Magic Keyboard, also the charging port factor.

Yep. The Logitech is great, I have one. But I use the Magic Keyboard because of the two reasons you mentioned. The charging port not only frees up the data port for other things, without needing an adapter, but the MK acts like a Magsafe dock.
