Am i the only one who hates Slot-loading drives?

I like my slot-loading drives.
I have no problems with my tray-loading ones either.
In fact, I didn't ponder the advantages too much, I'm just happy that I don't waste my time posting useless comments about my drives that all work perfectly well.

Twice in which period? Maybe your drive is just a bit picky..
The only bad thing is not playing smaller discs but then I've only wanted to do so once so it's not really been much of a problem.
I think slot-loading ones are cleaner looking and having drawers that pop open accidentally are more annoying. I wouldn't turn down a Mac for not having one or vice versa though

I think out of any pc laptops Thinkpads are the best. They have great build quality. I set them up for users at my work all the time. And what are you doing that makes you press a button that is flush with the right side of the laptop alot? just doesnt seem like that would be that big of a problem.
I hate slot-loading drives. When something gets stuck inside you're basically frelled.
I have a small piece from a CD that broke in my iBook's drive, never going to come out, that's just too expensive as my local Apple service centre doesn't do everything for free.
Now, whenever I'm ripping CD's from the public library (or what's left of my own) or doing other read intensive operations, I always use one of my external, tray-loading drives. If another CD shatters, all I have to do is pour out the pieces...

Basically
I find the tray on my iBook annoying. Any time I want to put a disk in, i have to move the machine. The clearance is basically 0, so if there is an uneven surface, or a mouse pad in the way, I have to life the machine.
I'm not sure about these notebooks, but I noticed that my slot-load Pioneer DVD-ROM that I had in my PC back in the day was slightly louder than the tray version because there was no tray to block the "whoosh" of the spinning disk. It was never really a big deal though, just something I noticed.

My old TiBook used to be pretty annoying with its slot loading drive -- they would indeed sometimes get stuck and I'd have to manually hold the gap open in order to eject. I've never had that problem with my new iBook G4 -- it seems to have a more powerful eject motor. I definitely didn't like the tray in my old iMac (original bondi blue model) -- if you didn't put the CD in perfectly, it would get wedged inbetween the tray and the slot as you tried to close the tray, making me fear the disk would be damaged. So there are problems and advantages with both.
