Amazon today introduced a new price drop on the M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM, specifically for the 13-inch model with 256GB of storage. You can get this computer for $749.99 in two colors, down from $999.00.

This deal beats the previous low price by about $50, and it requires you to clip an on-page coupon in order to see the final sale price. Amazon has the MacBook Air in Space Gray and Midnight at this price, and right now they're the only retailer offering it.

Note: You won't see the deal price until checkout.

Apple updated the MacBook Air lineup last week to start with 16GB of RAM, up from 8GB, and otherwise there have been no changes to the computer.

Again, this is a fantastic deal and part of me really wants to pick one up. But with 13- and 11-inch M2 iPad Airs, and a Gen 7 iPad Mini in addition to my M2 Max Mac Studio, I don’t know when I’d use a MacBook Air.

EDIT: I’m fascinated by the downvote I received from @holmesf. Does the responder disagree with me about whether I could find a use for the MacBook Air given my other gear? Perhaps the disagreement is with the expression of my desire to pick one up? Or perhaps my statement that this is a fantastic deal? Or didn’t the responder read or understand my post? Truly, I am fascinated… please explain! 🤣

The M2 Pro Mac Mini / 16BG Ram / 512MB SSD on Amazon.co.uk is currently just shy of £1200 and apart from the SSD, the M4 Mac Mini is better in every way for only £599. I think now that Apple Silicon is in its 4th generation we're going to start seeing substantial depreciation of previous generations, especially given the performance gains each year are much greater than they used to be in the Intel years. There's no serious way you can sell an M2 Pro Mac mini for £1200 when the new M4 Mac mini is £599. The 2nd hand market doesn't seem to have adjusted yet because people still want £500 for an M1 Mac mini on eBay, but they'll soon have to realise their devices aren't going to hold their value like they used to.

Dumping the old stock just like all the people on Facebook marketplace are trying to sell their MacBooks before the price plummets.

I wish Amazon UK was doing that, I’d be interested in an Air or MacBook Pro M2, but there’s almost no extra discount or incentive at all here. Apple Refurbished is pretty crap too.

It's so unfortunate that Apple kept 8GB/128GB for a decade. I'm sitting here on my 2012 MBP looking for potential upgrades, and so many discounted models still have 8GB/128GB. So it's nice to finally see one with 16GB/256GB. It's a tempting offer, would be better if it was M3 with 512GB. The M5 version is might be coming in the Spring. I was planning to wait for the Spring, but I wasn't planning on a such a well-discounted model with RAM and SSD specs that are actually an upgrade for someone still on a twelve-year-old laptop.

It's crazy that upgrading from 256GB to 512GB is 200$ when a full 1TB of premium m.2 is 85$ at retail pricing, to upgrade to the 2TB model of the same stick (SN850X), it's an extra 61$. Apple charges over 6 times that for their 1TB->2TB upgrade (400$).

M3 with 512GB is not going to be at this price. Even when the M4 Air comes out in Spring and they discount the M3, it will not be hit this price point given the expected MSRP (-$100) and typical discounts seen on Amazon and other retailers.

And no M5 is not coming in the Spring. It would be at the earliest the fall.

Maybe a June release of M5? The M4 will turn 1-year-old in May 2025. Guessing iPads might skip this one since they just got the M4 and those usually go closer to two years before a refresh. MacBook Air is overdue for a new chip. I can't find any recent news on it, but N3P was supposed to go into high-volume mass production in the second half of this year. It seems like there's potential for a May or June M5.

For folks like me who have a desktop set up. This would be a great travel laptop.

Amazon aren’t the only Apple reseller in the UK. The other guys sometimes have better discounts. I got a great deal on an M1 Air from John Lewis a few years back, plus they give you a 2-year warranty as standard.

Not so crazy when you consider how profitable Apple is as a company. People are obviously willing to pay these prices, which make a significant contribution to Apple’s margins while letting them maintain reasonable entry-level pricing. You’ll see the same strategy if you price out a top-end Porsche or Mercedes. They really sting you on the options/upgrades!

On the bright side, the M4 Mac Mini has a removable SSD module, so 3rd-party upgrades will be possible. I’m not holding my breath for modular SSDs on MacBooks, however!

I'm sorely tempted to replace my aging surface book laptop I bought from my old workplace for a steal. It was slow when it was released. Always good to have a clunker to kick around, though.

I was able to get Amazon to give me a “courtesy credit” of $49 because I bought it at 799 a few days ago. For the 16gb model, not bad at all. It’s a secondary machine so the slower ssd is really not something I care about at all.

It doesn't matter if they are "new", its a 2 year old model that stores and apple are trying to get rid off to make room for M4 models.
Do u think that 2 year old is not functioning? Let me tell that it works just as fine as newer ones
