The only thing I ever really see good “deals” on are their own Alexa and Ring products. Anything outside of that; has been a pretty big miss.

Same, and I just disconnected the last of my Amazon hardware yesterday.

I will keep my kindle paper-white, though.

The first Prime Day was the only true sales event. All other Prime Day events is just Amazon and resellers cleaning out inventory no one wants

So, exactly the same reason as every traditional retailer has put items on sale forever?

Cancel prime so I can drive all around town only to find out the stores don't stock what I need and the one that does is 45 minutes away (each way) in rush-hour traffic wasting the most expensive gasoline in the US? Sounds attractive. /s
Yeah, it is a major downside that Amazon is the only retailer with a web presence.

Crazy the hold Amazon has on some people.

Prime day has always been a let down of products marked beyond their msrp with a “discount” that makes it the same price as today or an actual small discount on something that has been I. Their warehouse for a few months/years

People can’t seriously be excited for this….

Yearly reminder that this is just a giant yard sale to make room for the new holiday shopping stuff. Don't waste your time unless something pops up you were needing anyways.

Yeah all the complaining here seems valid. But for someone who wants to buy maybe a TV or a Kindle Scribe, it will probably be the best day until November to do it. If you don’t want to, don’t buy anything.

I usually only buy stuff one month of the year. I find it allows me so much energy to focus on feeling thankful for what I have eleven months of the year. Then one month, I search for the deals and have a note with things I wrote down over the year that I definitely need. Consumerism is breaking Americans pocketbooks. The way around it is self control.

The last several years Prime Day has been an absolute bust, unless the dollar store is your preferred hangout and your kitchen needs a new set of rainbow plastic utensils.

If you want a Kindle or to upgrade your current Kindle keep an eye on Kindle pricing. Amazon has been pretty aggressive lowering Kindle prices in Prime Day. If you go this route, check out what your local library offers re: ebooks. It can be a great resource once you have a Kindle.

Just got a second hand Mac Studio M1 Max - 32gb ram(unfortunately), 32 core, 4tb ssd for 1750€. I hope I won’t find a better deal!

Amazon prime deliveries have the advantage of fast, free shipping.
it’s neither fast nor free these days.

2 day delivery is gone, replaced by “prime day” once a week delivery (for your convenience and/or lower cardboard consumption), or however many days it takes the vendor to ship it to you.

it’s prepaid annually, so no, not free.

i used to be a fan but these days not so much

I guess you could make the case of pre-paid bulk rate. But I am still getting stuff usually same day or next day at no charge.
Of course a lot of people offering free shipping these days, so it is less of a need, but then I really enjoyed Jack Reacher series too.
