Odd, my base M1 Air does not lag and stutter while doing web browsing or spreadsheet work, or word processing.
Most Mac users can’t even tell the difference between 60 hertz and 30 hertz refresh rates, which is why no one noticed the low power mode capped some JavaScript elements at 30fps.

There is definitely a lot of lag and stuttering on these Mac’s, especially on the base models. It’s just that Mac users either can’t perceive them like windows users can or they’re willfully lying to justify paying for their overpriced toy.

Good discount on the new M3 Air.
It’s not worth it just because the price is cheap. You’ll end up replacing it very soon. Wait until they at least give us 12 GB as base. Developers will start coding their apps with 12 GB in mind and the 8 GB models will start lagging hard because of the memory bottleneck.

The open secret is that many people, at least in the US, buy from Apple's Education Store, which offers $100 or so discount. And Apple is about to roll out Back To School special, which has been $150 gift card toward select Mac models (typically iMac, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro) and $100 gift card for select iPad models (typically iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro).
But don’t you need an edu email and student ID to prove you are in school etc.. ?

Not in the US you don’t. I ordered three things on the online education store and was never asked.

I hide it behind home schooling. Cause there isn’t a way to prove it and it’s technically true.
