Isn't it just. I lurve it.

Ever since I was a little Air Force Brat running around Phoenix I've loved eating pumpkin pie. It's amazing how much trouble I have convincing all the Aussies over here as to it's incredible-ness.

Sometimes it's tough being an Aussie - nobody eats pumpkin pie over here, we sold it in a café I used to work in and nobody bought it so I'd take it all home at the end of the day for free.

Actually, that wasn't too bad at all. :D

Thanksgiving is great; in a way. I don't eat meat, so I don't care about the turkey, but there are always really good pumpkin desserts around this time. Pumpkin spice pudding, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream. Mmmmm.

All this talk of pumpkin pie. I think I might have to buy one after work.

I have to work that day. But at least I get paid time-and-a-half, I will need the extra money to start my Christmas shopping the next day. Ugh!

I'll be getting together with the parents -- on Saturday. Thursday and Friday I'll be working. I traded to get Tuesday/Wednesday off instead, so I could spend some time with a friend.

Friends coming in for Thanksgiving. Mom's friend and her kids are flying in from St. Maarten, Christi and Pete are driving up, and we're all going to end up staying in two houses that are right next to each other. Yippee...not. The nice thing is a friend is coming into town, so.

So long as there's ham. Honey-baked ham mind you. None of this turkey stuff. Too dry.

I will be working on Thanksgiving Day, from 1:30 PM to midnight. Luckily, one of the boards I monitor has a TV input, so I'll be able to watch the football games while I work (in picture-in-picture), and one of my coworkers is bringing me in some Thanksgiving dinner, so it won't be TOO bad of a Thanksgiving... and not the first one where I've not been with any family (first time that happened was back in 1998, when I was in Seattle on the Office 2000 Beta).

I'll be going to Vancouver, Washington with my parents to have dinner with my stepmother's daughter and her family. The next day I will be at the Portland Art Museum seeing "The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt" and it's hallmark piece, a full-scale reproduction of the tomb of Thutmose III. Just hope it's open on Friday or Saturday.

Is there any place to eat on Thanksgiving?

I'm spending it with only my dad. My sister and mom are out of the country and my mom is with my grandma who just had a stroke. :(

So, I'm planning on having a lackluster Thanksgiving. No plans for turkey or anything special. My dad doesn't exactly cook. Just might be another day. I'd like a place to go for dinner so that I can at least have a decent meal. Any suggestions please.

I will have 22 family to my house in mountain foothills. Of them, 10 will travel about 3 hours. So, they come Wednesday night before, and stay until Saturday morning. It is one continuous good time. Beside a very traditional Thanksgiving dinner, we have a big bonfire party on Friday night, and an all you can eat homemade waffle, with strawberry mousse, custom eggs Saturday breakfast. My favorite holiday.

If you live near Seattle, you can come to my place.

hey sorry to hear about your grandma. if you have a boston market near you, you can reserve yourself a thanksgiving meal for 3 (i think thats the minimum), which includes a turkey and sides. just fyi.

Well, I have to go over the cooking list with the family - usually I'm the chef's assistant, sometimes running to the store to buy things they forgot...

There's the non-competition for the turkey legs (one of our family members comes from a family that has a big competition for the turkey legs...)

We look through the newspapers to go through the "best sales" for Friday. Eh...usually not much going on.... I do some scouting online.

Friday - probably early morning shopping and compiling of the Christmas Card list (if I have jury duty again this time of year, I impress people by spending my time there writing personal notes in each card) Start making turkey soup.

Saturday.... more shopping. Eat turkey soup. Drag out the Christmas wrap, and write a few cards/wrap some presents while watching the dotchi show on Channel 18 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dotch_Cooking_Show Although the show has ended in September 2006 , the US showing has subtitles and it's always interesting to see who wins...

Sunday....just chill out.... think of buying eggnog....using it for french toast...

I'll get a couple of bottles of champagne out of the frig, drive up the coast to malibu and enjoy a dinner with friends

Two big ones.

First one is at my stepbrother's new place. My stepmother and her family are big dinner party people, and he stole Thanksgiving from her.
That one will be early afternoon- one of those expensive organic free range additive free turkeys that taste amazing. Lots of pies and other yummy things too :D

Second one is a big thing my Godfather throws every year. Food won't be as good, but I get to see a lot of people who might be dead by next year and a lot of family my own age.
