SCORE! I've managed to piss someone off enough to deconstruct every sentence of my post!

Those borders are too big, that's my opinion, you posted a mock up, i critiqued it, that's life, deal.

I take care of my things too, I believe one should always have a laptop in a sleeve and in a bag when not in use. But you got to admit, the moron who decided to make a laptop skin out of Alu should be fired. From airport problems, to ease of damage, need i say more.

Hamster powered laptop? Aww is poor baby upset because his little macbook pro can't get more than 3.5 hours out of a full charge. how sad.

Generalization? Check out what this entire forum, hell what every mac forum, the blogosphere, the tech news world, and just about any credible podcast is saying about the heat issues. it's a problem, that needs to be fixed. first step to fixing a problem is admiting it's there. so stop trying to cover up the massive defects that are apperent. a laptop should be comfortable enough to use in your lap, period. without fear of testicular cancer.

And honestly it's your sisters fault she can't use a computer without screwing it up. i'm on the same windows xp install for the past 1.5 years now and i have zero spyware, or malware. i use the best antivirus and antispyware tool on the market, it's called common sense!

As a personal tip, if you want to help out your sister install ubuntu on her machine.

Now that i look at it again i think the side borders should be even thicker.

Also how much battery life can a laptop with a CoreDuo, bright screen, wireless and bluetooth get? 5-6 advertised hours don't really count.

And no it's not my sisters fault, it's Windows fault. You buy the best antivirus and good luck, cause i don't need one. And it's not common sense, it's common stupidity to get into an OS that you'll have to maintain every single day when you have other options.

Anyway, am off to the beach.

you've just lost all credability you had in my book since you basically said you'll buy a product if it looks good on your desk

what a load of crap

let me guess, there is probably atleast one bose product in your house? and all your electronic equipment is sony?

I have an 20 year old SA-8800 Pioneer amp. I don't have a bose, however my video is a Sony. And i research something i plan to buy to death. And the looks do count for me.

Any more questions?

Tofu is meant to be eaten, not to be put on a pedestal.

Make what you will of the above.

Read my post again generik. I am not materialistic... really you should just see me. :)

What of the above sounded too much? My dusty old amp that doesn't sound too good but gets the job done? Or the sony *VIDEO* player?

My Macs are my investment. And the money are justified since they pay back.
Also don't you research something you plan spending money on? A product that looks good means the people who made it gave attention to it. Yes i agree that Apple makes mistakes in it's industrial design sometimes, however they are the only ones trying.

I think the true video ipod has the best chance of being the Apple tablet...that is a small form factor portable mac that works really wellas a 7"-10" video display as well.
I would like something about as wide as a Macbook keyboard (Think 12" PB) and a load narrower, like so.

Macbook
Size and weight
Height: 2.75 cm (1.08 inches)
Width: 32.5 cm (12.78 inches)
Depth: 22.7 cm (8.92 inches)
Weight: 2.36 kg (5.2 pounds)

Macbook Touch (Odd name I made up just now)
Size and weight
Height: 2.75 cm (1.08 inches)
Width: 25.4 cm (10 inches)
Depth: 17.8 cm (7 inches)
Weight: 2 kg (4.4 pounds)

I will never buy a MacBook or a MacBook Pro until they reach the build quality, and have the same battery life as equally equipped IBM ThinkPads.

Well, you'll be waiting a while since the ThinkPads are not made by IBM anymore, they're made by Lenovo. ;)

But seriously, for Windows notebooks, ThinkPads and Vaios are pretty sweet.

okay devilsrejection - chill out.

I think dell are used as a example as they are the biggest. I have extensive experiance with both dell, fjs and ibm (no experiance with the latest lenevo models)

Dell are slightly better than fjs for quality, - fjs laptops are in and out of the workshop like whores!

Ibm is the best id say however it looks like a tank and are quite large.
Looking through your arguments i would say that your wrong in writing off style in your assesment of a product - style is a commonly considerd factor in most industry's - cars, laptops, mobile phones... you get the picture.

people buy macs mainly for quality and os x. Mac desktops are awsome - the laptop's are having a bad patch but you cant go off what you read here, this is a place for people with apple related hardware or software problems.

... geez... I really, really wish Apple would produce a tablet... I have a 17" PB G4 RevE that basically just sits around. I use my tablet with MS OneNote for teaching, meetings, etc. The combination is just too damn useful. Hell, I would have bought a 17" PB if it came in a convertible-swivel tablet form.

Argghhh...

... that mocked up iPad looked pretty sweet! :D

devilsrejection got banned? i wonder why?

i would love to have an apple designed tablet computer. i could imagine a few things i could use it for.

but i guess apple is busy right now with aperture, the "new" shake and the intel transition. and not to mention the iPod video.

i'm broke right now, but if apple releases one, and if the battery life lasts around 5 hours, i would be one of the first to order it.

I can imagine using an Apple tablet with multi-touch screens for DJing.. no need for any real turntables, etc.

That iPad is pretty cool, but trash the ring around the Apple logo and maybe have a built in keyboard version and I have a new gadget of forever.
