An appreciation of beauty.

Part of what makes people Mac users, is an appreciation of aesthetics. I wonder if there would be use for a thread appreciating beauty? Anything aesthetically pleasing, any media, but no pornography!…post something beautiful. Can be highbrow or anything, just beautiful….Can I start?….It's going to be hard to find anyone who does not love John Candy...a beautiful human.

I was really lucky to study at the University of Aberdeen, they had an old medical school building in the centre of the city, I've always appreciated it as one of the most beautiful buildings I've seen. Lots of granite in Aberdeen. Met some wonderful people.....Marishchal College.

Some years ago I went for a much needed break across to the island of Ireland, Southern Ireland. Was lucky enough to visit a place called Glendalough. The whole area was very beautiful, we had a nice sunny day so I took some photos. My dad's mother was Irish, I did a DNA swab thing with 23 and Me, turns out I'm pretty much 50/50 Irish and London. No wonder I appreciate Guinness so much!

Sorry to be ignorant, but is this America? Looks very beautiful. I've had a strange fetish for small town America since I was a teen, also 1950's small town America. Loved the film Stand By Me, and Stephen Kings descriptions such as in IT. Also really enjoyed Bill Bryson's The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid....of course back in the 50's anywhere there were some problematic attitudes, some misogyny and homophobia, but it was such an innocent time. Very strange I have 'nostalgia' for a time I didn't even exist in. But grew up with depictions of it, I remember playing DarkSeed on my old 486 PC, the little town was so pretty and enjoyable.

Wanting to learn is never something to apologize for. This is in Eastern Passage, which is a suburban area of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Speaking of Stephen King, it looks a lot like Maine because we’re more or less next door neighbors.

So this one may seem trivial, but when I was young I had a powerful lust for this computer...I was lucky one Christmas, by the looks of the box, I think it was second hand, but I didn't care, I was so emotional to have one of my own I was in tears. One of the happiest memories of being young. This computer was so far ahead of anything else at the time, for me it was the sound. I plugged it into my little cheap stereo, and the game music was just awesome.

One of the last things I saw that I found very beautiful. A 911 GT3 and a sunset.

My father worked for Volvo cars, I grew up with them. This is my favourite car ever, the Volvo 480. Always loved it.

I found the artwork of old Atari game cartridges, boxes and manuals very beautiful, already back then in the 80s.
(And the VCS 800 revival in 2020 was true to its tradition, and ongoing).
There was a reason we all saw the Fuji logo appear in BladeRunner and re-appear in the sequel...

Growing up in the 80's, there were only two supercars I really liked. The Lamborghini Countach, and the Ferrari F40. I thought they were both pretty beautiful. Still think they are better than modern cars.

Might be wrong here, but wasn't it the Leica cameras that were so popular with the street photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson? I'd love to have a go at that but I have no real clue how to use a proper camera, and I'm too shy to be wandering the streets taking photos of people. Glad someone did though.

The visual design is good but the usability is poor and the results are not justified by the price.

For me, something has to have function as well as form. The following device is entirely unbeaten. I have three at the moment...

It's perfect design. Intuitive, small enough to fit in a pocket, batteries last forever, feels extremely well made and responds perfectly to everything. The design has aged quite well since 1981.
