Mine's at 72%.
With that past experience of damaging the iPod Touch I'll be holding it off as long as I can (or have someone else do it as you're suggesting). At what battery capacity percentage would you consider it time to replace it? Or is it more a matter of how many hours of capacity the user can live with without having to recharge again?

Look in settings - then battery - then battery health. Look at the battery health it’ll say if it neeeds to be replaced. Mine was at 78% and even then it recommended replacement of the battery.

It drained fast wbefore I changed the battery even standing by so I think that might be an issue. Also when I was hitting down to 5% because the phone can’t maintain performance it was sluggish. It barely responded so the battery makes a big difference in the se performance.
