but without a defined and extremely clear distinction between Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT I still believe there is going to be some seriously confused and annoyed consumers. they will buy a windows RT device expecting to be able to install their own software (it being Windows after all ), but disappointed and frustrated when they realise that they can't

This is 100% correct. It will be a marketing nightmare for MS trying to make the distinction...

They shouldn't have branded their RT tablet as Windows.

Surface pro is a true computer, in contrast to other tablets such as the iPad.

The problem being the surface pro will be in the price range of Windows ultrabooks so it will be more competing with these devices than ipad or android tablets.

Can you name any difference between what you just stated and what Apple has done with previous products?
what products has Apple done this with? When did Jobs give a keynote where he spent next to no time showing how the product worked, showing off the software?

the question is, will it be as good as an Ultrabook? I'm not totally sold on these convertibles. I'd need to rad reviews first. Are they they best of both worlds or as Tim Cook said a compromised device.

Welp... the baseline Surface model's shipment has slipped to 3 weeks. Guess I was late to the party.

Wow so this has a lower screen resolution than iPad and no LTE option. I'm guessing some of the OEM's will probably have a more attractive offering.

I said this exact thing when the ipad2 came to the market.....screen wasn't as good as the competition and it didn't have LTE like the competition.....

Surely this will be the tablet for enterprise business users? It will run a full office suite out of the box

Dare I say it I can't wait to see what it can do *shudder* even though I'm a big Apple fan :)

Corny, but then again every Apple ad (aside from the dancing iPod user commercials) far exceeds the corniness - especially in Apple's choice of really annoying dingity ding music.

That said, i didn't bother listening to the commercial (sound off), but flash dancing is silly.

Anyway, they showed off 2 things, maybe 3?
1. The kickstand
2. The magnetic keyboard cover
3. it runs windows 8 (i think they showed that enough to count)

Not bad, really. It's a commercial lol. Dare I say it, it's kinda refreshing instead of seeing a rounded rectangular object being used (like Samsung's Galaxy Tab commercials)
