Well, now the newest iPhone official firmware update has been released, and the JB tools for 3.1 are still probably a day or to away (we hope).

The cat and mouse game continues...

And how many will automatically update to 3.1.2 then whine about losing their JB and UL ??? :eek:
 
Yeah will be interesting to see how long it takes to JB this one, haven't had a chance to do 3.1 yet as my MBP is in for repair, may just wait for this one to be jail broken now.

I'm wondering if/when the 3.1 JB is released if the JB process of 3.0.1 will hold true.. ie, upgrade to 3.1.2 but point it at 3.1 ipsw...
 
I am still on JB 3.01. Does anyone know what this version fixes/adds? I am really happy with JB 3.01 so I wont be upgrading to 3.1 but if 3.1.2 offers something worth upgrading to I may take the risk :)
 
Let's hope this doesn't close the exploit that the groups are using to try and JB the official 3.1 firmware.

Be pretty tricky of Apple to fix the exploit this quick.

PS: Supposedly just a bunch of bug fixes, but who really knows ??
 
lmao, I haven't seen a single good reason to go up to 3.1 yet. ican arrange my apps in iTunes..WoW! :rolleyes:


PEOPLE, if you JB under 3.0, 3.0.1 and 3.1..do not accept this update!

Going to upgrade right now...it wont break my JB right?? Just kidding :)
 
haven't updated either from 3.0.1; however, I'm tempted to get on NOW because of some apps incompatibility issues....

waiting for the dev Team though
 
• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
• Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

These are the fixes per Gizmodo.
 
dev team blog says to avoid the update, not good news...

WARNING! At 10.20AM PDT on October 8th 2009 Apple released the 3.1.2 version (7D11) of the iPhoneOS.

If you care about your jailbreak and unlock, don’t update your device - 3G and 3G(S) owners should pay particular attention to this warning.

* PwnageTool and redsn0w are not yet compatible with 3.1.2
* There is no estimated release time for compatible tools (please don’t bug us about this).
 
GeoHot is saying the 3.1.2 did not close the exploit they are all working with.

"phew, dodged a bullet with 3.1.2...still vulnerable and blackra1n worked perfectly on my 3gs"

But, IT WILL STILL KILL YOUR JB and UL.

I still cant see the reasons as many others cant to want to upgrade to 3.1 in the first place. 3.0.1 is still running on mine and will for a long time to come :p

This is good news. Shouldn't take the dev-team long to make pwnage work with 3.1.2 then. Hopefully we can update the same way we did to 3.1 - that couldn't have been easier.

Yes but this is a distraction to solving the JB from official 3.1 firmware.

Lots of new iPhone owners and those who updated in haste are still waiting for those JB tools.

I do love and respect the DevTeam, but if you read GeoHot's tweets, seems like he is making good headway on getting his blackra1n tool finalized....

And he tweeted blackra1n even works with the new 3.1.2 firmware.

He is probably the 1st person in the world to have a JB version or 3.1.2 on his iPhone since blackra1n works with 3.1.2 and apparently PT needs some modifications.

That's true about it being a distraction from 3.1; however, those of us who didn't hastily update have nothing to worry about. I do feel bad for those that did or who are new to the game though.
 
I don't understand the update. Wasn't the major issue with 3.1 battery life? And no mention about a fix? Wtf

AGREED 100%...I dont want to mess with a good thing.
 
now geohot just tweeted that he:

"got payload running on old devices. i <3 MMUs. now to address stability issues"

looks promising for blackra1n in the near future...

Some of us do enjoy some of the apps that require/take advantage of the new 3.1 APIs. ;)
