Wow. The exact same wallpaper??? Impressive.

I kid. It must be pretty cool to have this whiz bang technological advancement. :):apple:

I'm happy to see this implemented for my Android devices. It is long overdue!

Does the new Android restore process restore all of that as well? Ringtones, personal video files and music? Just curious.

Nope. It is just like the iPhone.

Except, my backup includes that information. So, the restore does as well. As for music, I have no music local to my device. All in the cloud, so no restore required.
Plus, app data is restored too.

only camera roll is included in the icloud remote backup, not contents in the music or videos app

icloud is still better due to app data being saved

nandroid backups are best though, because they can downgrade the OS and includes absolutely everything, but it's for nerds only

You don't need iTunes to backup or restore entire phone. So much disinformation passed around here. Typical Android fans.

Except not just like the iPhone, where everything is backed up including ringtones, videos etc.

No you don't absolutely need it, but without it all those custom ringtones, personal video files and music that you want is going to be missing, isn't it?

All of those can be re downloaded from iCloud if they were purchased originally from iTunes without tethering to your PC.

Gotta be in it to win it
iOS users don't say anything, only trolls like you say something. You are no different than some Fandroids hijacking a thread about iOS getting NFC, 3rd party keyboards, widgets, or the iPhone having a big screen.

If you think I'm trolling report it to the mods. Otherwise pot, kettle thing.

Does it backup all your apps+data or is it limited to only Playstore apps downloaded by the current google account?

it redownloads the play store app then trys to get any data you had for said game from the cloud. The game has to turn on that feature though to work. Otherwise you need to store a local back up and do it by hand.

What about text message conversation and attachments in the threads? Curious because I haven't tried the 5.0 backup and restore features yet.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
How is that better? Rooted and a 3rd party app to do something that Apple has baked in? Sounds like typical Android logic. I suppose that 3rd party apps on Android are better at Find my Phone and Activation Lock than Apple as well, right?

Ummm .... maybe because factually it's better. Regardless of the procedure on how it's accomplished, it's better because it is a complete and thorough image which is impossible with iOS.

.... And yes, some 3rd party apps on android that act like system applications can and should be compared to iOS because of how Android operates. For example, I much prefer Cereberus to Apple's find my phone.

How do you put 5.0 in silent or vibrate mode? Used to just hold the power button and get the options, now it just gives "power off". Can't find those anywhere yet

What's the problem in using 3rd party apps? Apple likes to showoff the vast collection of apps in the App Store compared to the Play Store and yet most iOS users dont even know that there are better apps alternatives.

Better in the sense that it is a full image, not easier or more seamless

Really for nerds only

Cerberus is more full featured than find my iPhone but again for nerds, android device manager is just fine, activation lock is best on Apple. I have yet to see anything on lollipops supposed implementation

Find my Phone was added as a Google app in 4.3. Been there for about a year now. Allows you to find, lock or erase your phone or tablet. Its called Android Device Manager. See below.

I've never liked Googles power management or volume controls.
I use Power Toggles.

I figured it out. Its easy really, just different choices than before. Hold volume button in either up or down, up pops choices. Put it in Priority to turn off noises but still get alarms or you can set a time span for Priority for silence or tap on None to get nothing including alarms.

Still not a fan of Google's implementation.
