I don't believe you're giving Google permission to PUBLISH your photos. What Google MIGHT do is use the photos (and the tags you applied) to help improve the AI for automatic tagging or searching, but your information would not be visible or available to other individuals. Kind of like Google already does with email for spam filtering.
True.

OTOH, it does get a bit creepy when you start tagging your photos for the facial recognition feature. I used to like this feature (Google even had it on Picasa way back when) and didn't think too much about it. However, now that our faces are becoming a biometric password as well, one has to think about the potential issues with the facial data owned by these data companies like Google and Facebook.

Oh, I don't tag faces in Photos. I wouldn't consider it without first asking the owner of the face. I don't even like tagging people in pictures on Facebook, though I don't really use it for much more than keeping in touch with a couple people.

That is exactly my concern. They are collecting our data to feed to their AI system.

I don't think it's QUITE what you're thinking, even though I've made the conscious effort to not participate in it myself. I think it's more along the lines of "this photo was tagged as having a dog, but we've never seen a dog like that before, now we can help people with similar dogs tag their photos or search for dog photos". The specific data about your photos stays in your account just as happens with the email "scanning" everyone was so worried about, I believe they're using general information or anonymized data about the photos to help train the AI for better searches and tagging.

Just bought the Huawei Matepad Pro for €440 euro's including shipping with no VAT cost. Google Play-store pre-installed. Probably will use it for a couple of years for half the price of other high end tablets. Just the design is so incredible to see.

So you chose that over a Samsung. Main reasons for doing so? What version of Android is on it?
First of all design. It's the tablet with the world smallest bezels. Secondly the specs and price. It's truly high-end with a 40% cheaper price with a 2k screen 6-8 GB of RAM and same amount of storage. It's just hard to get in Europe with Google Play-store installed, but worth it.

Looks good. My basic Galaxy Tab A has fairly small bezels and as I use it with no case hand held in portrait mode usually I find that sometimes my fingers hit the screen beyond the bezels and cause an unintended action. So while the lack of bezels can look great, it can cause the occasional problem.

O man this tablet is insane. Worth the money. It so smooth and the bezels so thin. The screen is great as well. Enjoying the tablet.

I have a Samsung Tab A 10 (2019 model) and I've been really pleased with it. It's replaced a 5th gen iPad which I sold due to charging issues. The lack of fingerprint scanner is a pain, the sound isn't quite as good and it doesn't feel as premium, but I actually think the screen is better and I've found the performance fine (although I do only use it for social media, Internet and streaming). I think if you're a heavy user, you'd be better off going for the S6 lite, or a newer one.

I have the same tablet (Samsung Tab A 10) and agree that the screen is great. For basic use it certainly does the job. And it was only 159 Euros.

Had the Samsung Tab 10.1 as well and I found it underwhelming. Multitasking on that thing was a no go. It felt sluggish sadly. But now it's like the iPad pro quality.

The Samsung Tab A is a lower tier spec Tablet. I still have a SS Tab S2 which runs good but it is slow compared to the newer ones. One day ill get another but probably wont get the latest due to the price.

What are we on, the Tab S7? Id probably get a 6 in that case. Or hec, maybe ill check out the Huawei tablets.

EDIT..Matepad Pro on Amazon $699
