Today I've had this discussion with a few friends because they wanted to know how to stop some apps from auto-starting, put an end to Googles data hunger and how to do real nand backups without the cloud...

So I've told them the best option is to root the phone and get full control of your device again. I was a bit surprised that a lot of them didn't even know of what their phones are really capable of and we're talking flagship stuff here.

Personally speaking I could never have a smartphone without root Google and carriers just are to data hungry for me and there are some Apps i.e. bloatware that I just hate and it doesn't matter if it's Ios or Android each phone has them.

If I'm spending money on a phone I want to truly make it mine and take advantage of all the customization options Android offers and that's not possible without root. Still can't believe that LG released the G 6 with a locked bootloader in Europe.

Funny you mentioned LG. My previous V20 allowed a FULL backup to internal or external storage. Pretty sure the G6 allows the same.

Which? Finally you ditched the Note 4 as your DD.
Huawei Mate 9 and that thing flys it's unreal. Tested others but I'm done with Touchwizz and didn't want some curious aspect ratios so I went with this one

I had to ditch the DD Note 4 because it wouldn't turn on anymore thanks to a emmc failure.

Considering that phone came out in 2014? Lived out its life for sure. Mate 9 isn't bad, but the software is ugly. Anything is better than Touchwiz and LG's skin I guess?

I disagree such a failure is unacceptable for a flagship phone lost some whatsapp stuff, pictures and sms thanks to that.

I'm a fan of stock Android but Emui has thankfully come a long way and I really lov the phone although I'm missing the S Pen and physical home button.

I'll go for option 5.

I like messing with my phone but don't require root to do so.
