So I'm sitting in my house browsing the web on my iPad, wifi signal is at full strength and then out of nowhere a pop up thing that says "connecting" shows up and dims everything else so I can't touch anything else, it only last for about a second. Then my status bar says I'm on 3G, then a second or two later it does it again, and switches back to wifi

It will happen about once every half hour or so, I'll try and get a screen shot next time
Anyone else experiencing this?

got a screen shot
now it doesn't always happen while a page is loading though

Wep, though I don't want to have to change my network security

I had the same problem and I was using WEP,... every time I started Safari, after several seconds it would display "connecting...", then would be fine until I started Safari again. I have not had the problem once since I switched to WPA2-PSK [AES].

It is easy to change security.

similar issue

The weird thing is it started doing this only the last 2-3 days, and the only change I made was to turn Cellular Data off (quick enough to turn it on when I'm need 3G). I figured why have it on when I'm on wifi 99% of the time. But mine happens only when I'm waking it up... I think. I've been annoyed by it so maybe it's happening at other times too, not sure.

This is happening to me as well and I'm on wpa2. Happens at work, too, where there isn't any security. so it isn't my home network

You now this started to happen to my mine in the last week or so and I've have my iPad since the launch.

Don't know what's up, but it's kinda annoying.

Me Too!

Same thing here. Only began in the last week or so.
Ever since I, too, turned off cellular data plan.
Happens very infrequently.
Not enough to annoy me but still a curious development.

I get that a lot. I get 1 bar a room away my AP Extreme. Maybe I should try AES. Better for my macbooks? I have a few of them.

Well I'm leaving on atria today so I'll see if it happens with other networks too

Yes, very infrequent. Happens to mine with a static ip connected to a dual-band TC via WPA2. It's Apple's issue, but who knows when they'll actually fix it.

Well I've had 2 WiFi's that I returned and now have a 3G and all of them had this problem.

Monday makes 6 weeks that I've had the same issue on all 3.

Apple needs to get of their azz and fix the wifi issues. How long does it take , they acknowledged problems a month ago yet no update.

I think it's fair to say that this is a software issue, so of course all 3 iPads are going to have the same problem.

This also happens to me with AirPort Express and a strong signal. It actually happened as I was typing this. It's very disruptive, very un-Apple and very annoying. I eagerly await a firmware update.

Oops... Ment to say a trip
Sometimes the spellcheck on here goofs up, like just now it replaced goofs with golfs
Arrrrrrggg... When is that update coming:mad:

Yes. It was happening frequently for me (every 5 minutes or so, and wouldn't just switch to 3G, which annoyed me more). Turns out it was my Netgear router - not sure if it just has problems with Netgears or what but I replaced it with a Linksys just yesterday actually and haven't had it happen again.

FWIW we also have an EEE PC that had a heck of a time staying connected to the Netgear router and works fine with the Linksys.

I never had issue with either of our iPhones staying connected, nor the wireless bridge used on our desktop PC, nor my Macbook Pro (at least up until a week ago when I made some settings changes on the Netgear router out of desperation).

For those of you still using WEP, you might as well not have network security turned on. Please for your own sake use WPA2.
