It's called ReelDirector. I came across it while I was browsing YouTube earlier today. It looks like a pretty good editing app. I haven't bought it, because I don't have a need for it yet, but I thought I'd bring it up here. iTunes has it up for $7.99.

Gotta love youtube...found a video review as well as a walkthrough on use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJLfRumQOSg

I've noticed that at the end of these edited videos, theres a little ReelDirector watermark at the end. I don't know if there's an option to turn this off or not. Hopefully someone who gets the app can let us in on this...

I haven't messed with it yet, but I hope it doesn't have the watermark thing at the end, i could see a "lite" version having a water mark but not one i paid 7.99 for..... i'll try to post a video tonight after i take a look....

From reading the features in iTunes the watermark is something that you can edit and add but you don't have to have it there.

What a fantastic app. While there are lot of clever apps available, there are not that many that you look at say wow, that's amazing that all that happens on my phone. While my next comment should in no way be interpreted in any negative way, do we know yet if you can overlay audio over multiple clips. I've only just started playing with it, and the video presentation they show has music over it that does not break while the clips change, so it appears possible, I just haven't got that far yet. Even if it doesn't do this, it really is a nice app.

This is great. Downloading now. According to the app store description they will be adding a voice over feature that will allow narration and/or music.

Sounds GREAT!

Yes it's pretty cool. Stiched together several clips very nicely, with opening and closing credits. However, what would really make this the killer app would be if it could trim clips. At the moment you have to have clips exactly as you want them before you can use this app. Would be nice to be able to do everything in one app.

You can do this within the app already, once you import the clip, the edges of the clips can be dragged inwards to shorten, and then outwards to lengthen again.

well IMO it's well worth the $7.99...

easy to use, I have so many "wants" from this app, BUT THEN I HIT MYSELF AND REMEMBER THIS IS A PHONE!! LOL..... it's no Final Cut or even iMovie but I still give it 5 stars for the current version because it is still powerful when you remember it's on a phone....

one review in app store gave it one star and said "please add more editing!!! to simple" ... IT'S A PHONE SHEESSSHH one star? give me a break!!
as with ANY video editing software it takes a little time to render the video when finished but who cares... and yes you can trim the videos within the app
can't wait for the update to be able to do voice over/music then i'd call it iMovie Lite.....

WELL WORTH IT BUY THE APP!!

EDIT:
ps there is no watermarking... just change/delete the text at the end of the video......

EDIT 2:
forgot to add as of now I don't think you can add pictures from library to the video... I'm sure that is coming with a revision.....

Missed that, thanks. Just watched the video and seen it done as well, so back to the Projects Board for me ;)

Very impressive app.

Wow, i might grab this asap!

Have a question, to the video clips that you have edited with this app or put a few clips together, when saved, do they sync with itunes and get saved on the computer just like regular non edited videos?

Thanks

The videos get saved to your camera roll where they behave as any other video.

This app is probably one of the very best I've seen in both form and function and truly showcases what a powerhouse the iPhone can be.

Based on the info on their website and itunes - voiceover/music beds are coming in the next revisions.

I've written the developer because I think there's at least one addition that I think would make this application take off like wildfire - and that is the ability to convert and upload to a specified FTP. The native video app can convert for mobileme a streamable video (and smaller file size).

Having this function will make it a must-have for news organizations, bloggers, etc that shoot video and post to their own websites or servers and want to stream (the current native format is .mov but NOT streamable). When the iPhone converts for mobileme, it makes the .mov streamable. But no news organization wants to host videos on a 3rd party site.

The developer (at this time) thinks it may be a limited market but I suggested that I think that the potential audience is much bigger than they realize and whether they add it to this app - or create a "pro" version - this would be a highly sought after app.

I also would love to see the ability to add as many bottom thirds on top of the video as needed.

That being said - this app is again - truly amazing.

Wow you make me want to go out and get a 3GS just for this app. As someone noted, I can't believe Apple didn't come out with something similar but maybe eventually they will.
