So I just got the braided solo loop from Apple a few days ago, and it's way too tight.

It leaves very visible red marks when worn and it hurts my wrist. And I see a pretty deep circular imprint of the sensor on my skin when I remove it.

I am a size 12, but I bought an 11 since everyone says they will expand over a few days (or even weeks), but it's yet to get any better, and I've been wearing it non-stop for six days now. I will definitely return and get a size 12.

I don't think this is an Apple problem, more of a "Youtuber" problem since it was mostly Youtubers that influenced my thinking when purchasing it, as everyone was screaming how oversized they are.

Or did Apple make a new batch that fit better, and only the first one had issues?

Is anyone in the same boat?

I have a solo loop, and the size that Apple's guide says would fit me fit me perfectly. In what I've read about the braided loops, about half of the people who have both say to size down one size from the solo loop for the braided, and the other half says the same size in both fit perfectly. I think it's really personal preference in how tight people like to wear them....bottom line is, if it's too tight, return it for the proper size.

Yeah, I'm definitely returning it, it hurts my wrist and I basically can't wear it.

I just measured my wrist and it's 21,7 (or maybe 21,8) cm, so 8,54 (or 8,58) inches... When I put those numbers on the Apple website, it says there's no size for me, although their measuring tool does put me at size 12 if I tighten it.

Oh well, I'll just try the 12 and hope it will fit me.

Trial and error is the way to go. We’re in the states and with the stores + return policy it’s a no brainer to get your perfect size (if available that is)
I measure a 5 on the tool, and tried 2-3-4-5.
wearing 4 happily with a size 5 kept for sleeping.
for dad size was 8 on tool, I got 6 since crap return policy there. That left marks and I had to buy a 7

For a 16.30cm wrist which size do you think fits? apple advise me "6" but some people say I should buy "5".
I am confused.

I was exactly on the border between 6 and 7. Like you, I sized down to a 5 after reading loads of reviews and watching YouTube videos. It was too tight, left marks on my wrist, so I went to a 6 and it’s perfect. I think lots of people initially weren’t using the print-out tool properly - many didn’t wrap it tightly around their wrist, which is what you had to do to measure accurately.

I do find that the size 6 is great throughout the day, but tends to be too loose for sleeping. One disadvantage of these fixed-size bands is they can’t accommodate slight changes in wrist size.

Thank you for your reply. As you mentioned, I am on the border between 5 and 6 :)

This is why I don’t plan on buying any of the Solo loops. When I go from cool indoor temperature to hot outdoor temperature in the summer, my wrist easily increases a whole notch on my regular sport band. Wrists swell and shrink based on activity level and temperature.

I have my first braided loop arriving in a few days. I tried on both types of solo loops in the store when they came out, and size 8 felt the best.

I'm interested in seeing how it feels long term. Braided for comfort seems so nice. I was just waiting for the ship times to get to normal, it was 4-5 weeks but now it's down to a few days.

My wrist is 16.5cm and the Solo Loop in size 5 is perfection. My understanding is that the fit of the braided is very similar.

I was exactly between a 7&8 when i went to the apple store to have it measured. Neither 7 nor 8 fit me properly. Size 6 was great but i was thinking it will get loose over time so i went with size 5, wore it everyday for about a month and tried to stretch it out and just cuts my circulation, exactly how you described. Eventually returned it and got the 6, so far it’s holding up fairly well. It’s still leaving marks but not to the point where it’s uncomfortable.

Guys, this is the length comparison between my solo loop size 7 and braided solo loop size 6. You can see the equality.
My advice is braided solo loop = solo loop - 1.
The braided solo loop is even not as stretchable as the solo loop

That’s odd. My wrist is the same size and the measuring tool marked size 7 but VERY close to size 6, almost in the limit between both sizes. After reading many posts and watching many YouTube videos of people complaining about the sizing being too big, I ordered both thinking I’d return the one that didn’t fit. (I purchased the braided version, haven’t tried the silicone yet) To my surprise they both fit very comfortably! Maybe size 6 is a bit too snug but not uncomfortably so. But I can’t imagine wearing a size 5. That’d be too tight for me! I’ve been using size 7 for a week now and feels great! It’s snug, it doesn’t slide up or down my wrist, there are no gaps or spaces between the band and my arm and I get that feeling of the watch disappearing. After watching many YouTube videos saying you should order a whole size down (someone suggested going down 2 sizes! That’s crazy!) I was skeptical about the size 7 fitting but it does! In may case the Apple measuring tool was spot on!

I would definitely NOT agree with the "measure your size, but go -1", since it's not the situation for me. I am a really big guy, I have huge wrists, I workout all the time etc., and Apple doesn't even offer a size for my wrists. I should be 13-14, and by that logic, size 12 should be fine for me, but it really is not - it's still too small.

I know I'm in the minority here, but bigger sizes would really be nice...

I just received a size 5 braided solo loop today, which is Apple’s suggested size for me and the size that fits best for me on the Silicone solo loop. I’ve been wearing a size 4 braided solo loop for a week.

Putting the two side by side, the 4 & 5 are the exact same length at this moment. So, the 4 stretched out to the size of the 5. I’m going to wear the 5 until my size 4 return period is up to make absolute sure which size I need. It’s driving me bonkers. I’m mostly concerned that the 4 is going to be too tight in the summer, and, for me, the OHR monitor is very inaccurate when the band is too tight.

I love the feel of these bands, but it’s really hard to get the perfect fit. It seems like you’re either going to have one too tight in the summer or too loose in the winter.

Correct. I ended up with 2 sizes as well. It is the cost of comfort associated with a non-adjustable band.

This is what I'm wondering too...

I went to the store and tried on a bunch of sizes, and got the perfect fit for me. The sizes larger and smaller were clearly not right.

But it's cool now! Once it gets hot out, and sweaty, this perfect fit might not be so perfect...

I also adjust my normal sport loops throughout the day and I kinda miss that. As is, I'm wearing the braided during the day then normal sport loop at night.

So which one did you end up keeping? The size 4 or 5?

I kept the 5 for this post. I wish I’d have kept the 4 though. The 5 is now too big on colder days. I went with a 4 this year with my series 7.
Hi, thanks for the response, so with the series 7 you got a size 4 braided solo loop? And it sounds like we have a similar sized wrist, what size was apples tool recommending to you (if you measured with apples size guide) thanks again!

When I first tried the tool, it put me just into the 5. When I measured my wrist with a measuring tape and put in the measurement, Apple’s website/apple store app told me 5.

Right out of the box, the 5 was perfect. It ended up stretching out a good bit. The 4 started out more snug than I wanted, but it stretched out to the size of a new 5. I brought the 4 to the apple store to compare, and I set it right next to a size 5 braided loop. They were identical. I guess maybe some people don’t have as much stretch or some don’t notice/care. I’ve had two bands stretch one size up now, which makes me personally think sizing down one size is necessary.

Really appreciate your help, the tool is telling me 5.5, I have a 4 solo loop from a year ago, and it is pretty tight now, I recall when I had a series 6, I purchased very snug so blood ox would work. I guess the real question is, are braided loops bigger than solo loops out of the box? I have read a lot of differing opinions on braided vs silicon sizes. Had you landed on 5.5 I would have my answer lol... It seems I could probably pull of a 5 braided and it may not be as snug and perhaps a bit more comfortable, stores are closed where I live again so I would have to take an educated guess.

If you measure between a 5 and a 6, I think the 5 probably would be best for you. I think there is a little variation in the sizing because of mass production, but it’s not a huge difference I’d think.

They tried to tell me that they might stretch and they might not stretch (real helpful). I decided to go off of my experience with the Atlantic blue. I’m almost certain they’ll all stretch at least some.

I tried out a solo loop first. I think the material is the biggest difference between them. The silicone is “stickier” and less stretchy. I personally think that’s what makes the sizing feel so different. I found it harder to tolerate a snug fit with the silicone because it doesn’t breathe.

I've been wanting to try on the new Braided loops in person with the 45mm. I have a Size 8 from last year with the 44mm which still fits well on my 45mm. Guy at the store had me try a Size 7, and it felt good. Size 8 also felt good.
Last year size 7 was too tight and size 9 was too loose. We'll see how they loosen up over time. I went with 8 again.

I just bought a braided solo loop to replace my sports band on an AW S7 with a 45mm case.

Having a 19cm wrist size, the sizing tool put me at a size 10. However, in playing around with the tool, I noticed that if I entered a wrist size of 18.5cm, just 0.5cm smaller, the tool suggested either a size 9 or size 10, depending on how snug a fit I wanted. I went with the size 9 and I’m very happy with it. It gives me a very snug fit, but it is not the least bit uncomfortable to me. I’m sure a size 10 would have been too loose for me.
